Roadfrog- thanks. I'm actually glad that this happened to my car. After getting under the hood, I am now more confident with my car if I later on have to replace anything. The main difference between my Acura RL and the LS was you are working in very tight spaces in the LS engine bay.

GenXY- I had the same brake setup on my RL. It brakes very well and does not fade. Rotors are expensive.... So I pad slapped 3 set of pads on it already lol. And it's still holding real good. I hope it will do the same for the LS.

Im contemplating putting my 20 in Vossen cv1 from my RL to the LS...... I think 20s might be too small. Any suggestions for coilovers? My vehicle doesn't have air susp

That's cool that you took care of this yourself, personally in the back of my mind I thought you had done damage to your engine...didn't want to tell you that, but I can now that it's fine. I agree with the others...aluminum is not very forgiving when it gets hot in an engine...I've seen so many engines fail because of it. The older iron blocks were much more forgiving. Glad it worked out for you. Nice job.

was it an LS460? one actually blew up? how the hell can you blow up an Ls460?! didn't even think that was possible lol, like, it would actually take work to blow one up

Yea Everything is holding up just fine. I was a little worried about it myself lol. But I checked the coolant the other day and there was no caking nor loss of coolant fluid. Gave her some Royal purple HPS 5w20. One thing I did notice was, at a stop the car feels like it was vibrating. However after further research, this seems to be normal when you are not using the AC.

Installed a Blackvue DR650s 2 channel dash cam. Then tomorrow hopefully finishing up the hardwire for my Escort Max 360 radar detector. The last thing is putting my new brake setup in.......

This ^^^^^ is the post I was waiting for...... Happy to see everything is going good after putting some miles on it. I have to commend NJToany for taking on this task since this is something 95% (including myself) of the LS owners would not have tackled on their own.

Chuckinnj- Thanks for the support. I was very intimidated at first knowing that I just stepped it up to the big league with a $75k. So a little skeptical about working on it. After I dove in. I just realize its the same 10,12,14 mm sockets and wrenches i been using for my other cars. Parts are just more expensive lol. This V8 is a beast. Just wish i had the same 380 HP as the RWD ones

Time will tell on your engine's health. It should be fine though. Now the fun begins. I've never driven an AWD with less power but I think it should drive like a RWD with regular gas when the knock sensors retard the timing. I use regular at times and I feel the slight loss. Actually I used regular in my LS400 for 120k miles and it probably saved me about $3500. I'm using premium now and enjoying the extra HP. Enjoy the ride it is special like everyone reading this already knows.

Stereorob - Sorry, I wasn't clear. The car that had a blown gasket was a crappy ole Chrysler K car that these sweet little old ladies (sisters) had owned for decades because they could afford nothing newer. My wife asked me to help them out. It was nothing but bad news, and at that time, I couldn't afford to help them much. A sad memory of that situation. I think they both passed not long after that.

NJToany - I'm proud of you. I guess you, I and roadfrog (as well as others on here) have the same mindset. That's a lot of the reason WHYwe come to this forum. Even though I could afford to have minor repairs and maintenance done by mechanics, I prefer to spend my money elsewhere while also having confidence in my vehicles because I am the one who did the maintenance or repair, and KNOW it was done correctly, and in a quality manner. And not done at a world record setting pace by a shop mechanic who is trying to beat book time, who could care less if he did the job well or not.

I also own a Valentine 1, want to procure a dashcam, so I'll be interested in your set-up.

You might be surprised by the cost of parts for our cars. I have found it to be as cheap as any other vehicle I've owned - and in many cases, cheaper. Keeping in mind that many of the parts the LS uses are shared with other platforms Toyota produces. For example, my water pump cost me about 50 bucks. Replacing it was a breeze and required no special tools. Air filters, oil filters, etc are no more expensive than any other car. Online shopping for parts and accessories is your friend. Another example is my radiator (I broke it by accident...not the fault of the rad), was about 50 bucks as well and came with a lifetime warranty. Replacing it was also a breeze.

Roadfrog- You are most likely right. I didn't care to shop around too much when I bought the AC compressor and the pulleys since the dealership was reimbursing me for the parts. But If i did, I would have most likely got them for a lot cheaper. I was just in a rush to get the parts so I can get the car back on the road again.

I know are a DIYer, have you ever done the brake fluid flush in our cars? Is it pretty much the same thing as any other, or we need to do a special procedure? I'm contemplating if I should bring my vehicle to Lexus to do my brake fluid flush. I bought some Motul RBF600 fluid for the car after I put on my brake setup. And it has been make a weird clamping noise from my Passenger side caliper. Notice it when I'm at a stop/parked when i step on the brake pedal. Never heard that type of sound from any of my previous cars.

I let my Toyota dealer do my brake flush. They use Techstream and use the proper procedures for our cars.For what they charge, (79.99), its just not worth my effort. Same with transmission flush ($149). Everything else I do myself. I've posted several DIY threads for spark plug change, diff fluid change, etc. Pretty simple stuff
