I was moving stuff and loaded my trunk with it. I hadn't closed the trunk for about 3 or 4 hours so when I pushed the button to close it wouldn't. I pushed it down manually and it still wouldn't close. I had to pay the $900 to get it fixed but here's my question. Does simply leaving the trunk open for an extended time cause a mini-motor or something to keep running and eventually burn out? I couldn't find a reason for an open trunk to just stop working for no apparent reason.

Parts stop working for no apparent reasons and without warning. I had the same problems but it was covered under warranty. Leaving the trunk open for several hours shouldn't have caused the problem.

Well, leaving the trunk open when the headlights are on will defeat the headlights auto-off feature and cause the battery to be completely discharged in an hour or two. It would produce similar results as to closing the trunk - no power close or manual close. But no indication from you that this may have been the case.

No, the battery wasn't dead but the electronic trunk close stopped working and the trunk wouldn't lock. It's just weird that it just stopped without any reason.
