There was some noticeable interior quality issues that seemed cheap, however the cars rode pretty supple (I drive a 2010 LS460). Now, if it were me, I'd stick with the LS....however with the G80-G90, their value proposition isn't spending $80k...it is selling an $80k experience (to be seen if they can follow through) for $60k.

The 2 cars I test drive were in the low $30s....for that price, I'd be able to get a 2012 LS460 out of warranty.

I'm still sticking to my LS, but like many, anxiously anticipating how the Genesis is received in the marketplace. In the meanwhile, I'll look for a cheap VW Phaeton..... =)
Do not get a Pheaton unless you want constant very expensive issues all the time. I like them too but there is a reason they took a nosedive in resale and have been available on the used market for so cheap.

Hah yes duly noted, I kid on the Phaeton. As tempting it may be to get a $80k car for $5k, one of the best advice I ever got on buying a car is "the most expensive car you'll ever own is a cheap european car".

Literally...laughed out loud here..

But in all seriousness, and not to derail, Im seeing that Audi's are making some reliable vehicles.
To me, not enough time on their side since they decided to revamp themselves to make such a sure-footed, solidified statement, but im curious as to what others think/feel about that German brand.

Audi has no doubt been making more reliable cars, I would buy one without hesitation, but if I were going to keep something 10+ years or buy something used without a warranty to keep I would still be hesitant just because they are so much more expensive to work on, diagnose, and parts are much more expensive.

Great points, as I share the same sentiments.
Not to be redundant regarding the cliché, however in my mind, the luxury Euro-brands are the cars one should lease, and save the "long-haul" purchases for, well...Lexus.

Which then circles back to the reason this thread got started....Hyundai/Kia has been making big strides in reliability. Save for a Hyundai Genesis 5.0L engine issue in I think 12 or 13 model years, I've been sneaking in the Hyundai forums and not finding too many big issues on the Equus/K900 line-up. Curious to see, with our mindset (luxury + reliability) how a 10 year old Equus with 150k miles holds up....which may set the precedent on how a 10 year old G80/G90 with 150k miles would hold up as well.

Yeah I agree...if you're leasing for 3 years everything pretty much will be fine

Agreed also, which is why I made the statement in saying that I think its a bit premature for some to think that Audi has arguably taken the ranks as the most reliable automaker. Time/usage is the ultimate litmus.
I'm hoping that the Hyundai/Kia brands continue to make the strides that they've been able to make over recent years, and provide consumers with a cost effective, reliable and aesthetically pleasing vehicle to choose from.
I'm not sure who wouldn't want an $80k+ driving experience for $20k less (as it currently stands).

My 2014 Equus (purchased Aug 20th 2014) is approaching 190,000 miles.
Sure there's trim issues on the interior, a few faint squeaks & scuffing on interior door handles/glove box...but still a great value. I paid $51K for demo model.

The G90 should hold up better, as the materials used are far superior to that used in the Equus.

The G90 is a brand new thing for them, I think they redefined not only the materials but the process and engineering behind them, Hyundai has a lot riding on this and they won't just "Buick-ize a Chevy"....

I'm the Genesis brand manager at my store and I sold the first G90 in my state. The G90 is an incredible vehicle. Its biggest advantages are in its ergonomics in my opinion. They put a lot of thought into how you should be able to reach things and manipulate controls. Luxury cars these days have so many gadgets and tech features that are clunky and overwhelming in most cars. The G90 attempts to make everything simpler and more elegant. The interior design cues are very conservative and disguise a lot of functionality. I like how from where you rest your hand on the shift, you can extend a thumb right into the drive mode button molded to catch it, same with putting your fingers forward for the fan or audio controls. There aren't any digital slider nonsense like a lot of cars have. Everything is tactile and button pressure and manipulation was a big thing for the design team. I love even the knurled volume **** on the steering wheel. Overall, the interior quality and design is top notch and really the most impressive thing about the car in my opinion, aside from the warranties of course. The seats are probably the most comfortable in its class, but they lack some of the more advanced features you can get on other cars like massaging or dynamic bolsters and such.

The only thing I think the G90 is not stellar on is the sound system. I think my '99 LS 400 has a much better sound system. Otherwise it is more advanced than most of its competitors and its interior design shows a more intelligent way to marry technology and luxury than what has been the norm in the industry. When I first went to the training for the vehicle, I thought it was just going to be a "value proposition" because I come from a Lexus/Toyota background and wasn't terribly impressed with the Equus. I am not exaggerating when I say that a V8 AWD G90 at $74K is, in many important ways, a better vehicle than the equivalent S550 at $120K. It's a big leap forward and I'm excited to see what comes next.

To be fair, your 99 LS400 has a better sound system than what can be had in my 15 LS460 too lol. I know I had a 98.

Geez...I dunno. The hYundai high end audio is a Lexicon and Infinity system. The Lexicon systems found in Hyundai have been raved about.

The Nakamichi sound system kicks *** I agree... lol. Loved it too. Have never been a fan of the Korean transmissions. Pretty sloppy compared to some of the competitors.

I have 2017 Audi A4 loaner while my dealer is reconditioning my rims and it's a really nice car too. I just bring it up because others were comparing 4 cylinder sedans. This car hauls *** and has a 7 speed double clutch transmission. Probably the best shifting transmission I have ever experienced. Incredibly fast shifting. But it also cost almost twice as much as an Accord. The model I am driving stickers at $45k.
