Bummer!!! Rear ended on the freeway...
Wife calls from the side of the road.... Her gorgeous '14 LS460 rear ended on the rainy freeway tonight. She was shaken up but not hurt. No airbags deployed.
Raining here in NorCal and she was coming back from the local mall which only takes one freeway exit between the mall and our exit and the traffic came to a complete stop. A MB ML350 stopped behind her but the VERY LARGE tow truck with a vehicle in tow did not stop at all ramming into the MB and the MB into her left rear trunk area.... Guy driving the MB ended up going to the hospital for concerns of his back (not faking either as I saw him when he was taken to the ambulance). We were able to drive the car home.
Bumper cover torn, left rear tail light smashed and bent out, trunk lid crunched.... Insurance notified, claim started, adjuster to call tomorrow. Will post some pics soon.

Very sorry to hear about the accident, Duck. Glad to hear your wife is doing fine. The damage doesn't look too bad, the tail lights are still working! Hope your insurance company takes good care of you.

Ouch.
Be sure to get referrals for a shop, don't rely on the insurance company or a Lexus dealer, really find the best shop you can. If a shop is booked up and its the right shop, wait.

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate turn of events, Duck. Glad your wife was not injured. A shame the tow truck driver was not paying attention and caused a chain reaction. Hopefully the tow truck driver is unhurt too, and especially hope the MB driver turns out okay since he took on impact from both the front and the rear and was sandwiched in between. We're in NorCal too and it's been non-stop rain for a few days, and a few more days to come. Hope the rain didn't seep into the trunk or other areas of the LS to cause issues with electrical, mold, or rust.

Appreciate everyone's kind thoughts. She is fine albeit a tad sore this morning. Cars can be fixed or replaced....
Not sure if we will ever hear about the status of the driver of the MB.... He did walk gingerly to the ambulance before they strapped him in (concerns of his back).
Still waiting to get a call from AAA (filed the claim last night but that just gets the ball rolling). The police report has all of the involved drivers' info and that will not be available for a week to 10 days.
We have a real good auto body shop that did all of the work on the SC and they had already repainted the front bumper on the LS460 so they will be doing the work. No clue to the cost or time it will take......
Will update this thread as this moves along....

Thanks for the update, Duck. AAA took good care of me, and worked closely with a good body shop of my choice to fix up some hail damage on my LS in August.
Does the damage look worse in daylight?

Good shop that damage could easily exceed $10,000.

AAA adjuster called this afternoon and things are rolling, Deductible waived since she was not at fault. Rental car covered for up to 30 days. Body shop information provided and we will be dropping it off tomorrow (with the Hertz rental car pickup right around the corner). Now the waiting .......
Thanks for everyone's comments and positive sediments.
