Perhaps different in Canada, but I was assured by both Lexus and Toyota, that services done by Toyota would appear in the "system". In fact, Toyota was able to bring up my car's service history from previous owner.
As for "sibling", I have found that many of the parts in the LS are identical to those in the Tundra (Thermostat/housing for one).

And remember...you can enter maintenance you have done elsewhere and maintenance you do yourself into the database too through LexusDrivers.com.
Mechanics don't become mechanics just to work on Lexus vehicles, they may work for Lexus then go to Mercedes, or Honda, or Ford, they may go work for an independent shop or start their own like I did. Mechanics can work on a wide variety of cars. That's the great thing about a Lexus vs a BMW or Audi or whatever, you don't need special tools, diagnostic equipment, etc.
Bottom line is, the only reason to use the dealer is to enjoy the experience and customer service. Nobody should think they are getting better quality service there than other quality places, you aren't, and in fact may not be getting as high quality service as you would elsewhere.

However, once it was out of warranty I would have absolutely no hesitation taking it to my independent mechanic to diagnose and repair such an issue. Why would I? He's a Lexus master tech and owns two LSs himself, as well as an SC, and a GX. He works on these cars all day every day. And I'll save a ton of money.
I'm not saying take it *anywhere* I'm saying take the time and find a great independent shop. You'll get better service for way less money.
I've had really good work done at dealers and also really poor work. I've had cars damaged at the dealer several times, never at my independent shop. Worst was when my LS was new when they tore the whole dash apart to replace the headunit only to find that wasn't the issue, it was the SD nav card which they reused in the new unit. D'oh. They were clueless until I recommended replacing the SD card.

I paid Mercedes $680 for an oil change, tire rotation and new wiper blades. So count your blessings lol

This is a ripoff, I have a V8 and a V12 Mercedes and the price for an oil change is the same, $125 at a Mercedes dealership, almost the same for my Audi A8, Lexus LS 460 and Infiniti Q70V8 around $80.

You know these milestone mileage services involve very little actual service, or actually doing something substantive. On most of them the only thing they do is change the oil and filter. On some major service intervals maybe they change a belt, change wipers, do a brake or radiator flush, or the rare spark plug change. But 95% of the crap they do is "inspect" this or "check" that, or inflate tires, yada, yada, yada (for us Seinfeld fans).
Now my wife could not do any inspect or check items, but anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of cars could do all that for him or herself.
