Angry Ls 460 bottom out on me today

Today while driving home came across two pot holes one for each side they where not that deep but the way the car bottom out struck me as surprising.Boom boom scraped the under cover and all.wtf could be wrong with the front end at 39750 miles.the only conclusion I came across is the struts are bad or the control arms. My gs never bottom out like that and I'm started to think I brought a problem. Just got the Lexus platuim warranty.can't used it until it kick in after a month. Another issue I notice is like the drive shaft or transmission selinoid are off cause when in traffic I notice a delay responce from a stop. I'm having a sour taste right now. Any feed back would be great.

Don't panic and don't jump to any conclusions

lets start with the tranny. You're description of the problem is a little vague. Are you saying there's a delay in the shifting or are you saying the car doesn't respond to throttle input? Either of those conditions though, can be corrected by way of an ECU reflash of either the trannny or the engine. With a better description, we might be able to help out better.

As for the pothole mishap, that's a tough one to diagnose. first thing we need to know is whether you have air or regular suspension. Did the car otherwise ride well before the potholes? Any jounce or wallowing? Take the car to a local suspension shop and have them take a look. It often won't even cost you anything if they want your business. It's not likely that this has anything to do with your CA's, but they can check that too.

Small pot holes can bottom out the suspension depending on their shape and how you hit them (I have some railway lines near me that look pretty smooth but if you hit them wrong they send one heck of a jolt through all of my cars). Wait the month before you have them checked out to make sure your new extended warranty will cover them if there's a problem. Unfortunately, the transmission ECU reflash isn't covered by the platinum extended warranty (only the original factory warranty).

Since you purchased Lexus platinum warranty, you must be within original factory warranty. If so, you could have your dealer check both for you and repair as necessary. No need to wait for a month for platinum warranty to kick in as you most likely do have original warranty at this moment.

OP's car is a 2011 so I don't think it's still covered. Some dealers will sell you a platinum used car warranty even if you didn't buy it from them (and even if the car is out of the original factory warranty).

I have regular standard sturts. And it only felt when throttle is applied softly. I drove over plenty of bumps and potholes but this is the second time it bottom out on the left front.I heard clutter when going over muiltible and uneven surface at times also NYC streets are terrible. Clutter sound is usually sturts or bushings. Am I right??

Stick around long enough, and you'll learn MANY acronyms, abbreviations, etc on this site, lol.

ECU, CA's, ML Amp, CL, SES, DRL's, etc

Great attitude to have regarding the issue, and you're lucky to have so many in close proximity to you. Hopefully this wont turn into a debacle and the first stop to address this issue will be your only stop. Please do keep us posted and good luck.
