Hello, did you replace the o rings too? If so where did you find them. Did you run into any issues in that 3 hour span lbvs?
Everything was replaced. I found someone on ebay that sells the entire kit. No problems at all while doing the work. Followed the instructions given here and everything was a breeze. I'll see if I can find the link to the kit and post it.
Thanks so much for posting this! Not sure I would've tried it myself.
Doing both sides, the job took me about 4 hours. But that's because during the run test I discovered I failed to connect the incoming fuel line which was just sitting against the pump! (Thought it seemed to go quicker than the first side! "Good kid, don't get cocky!")
Sharing my stupidity so others will learn from it. Lol
BTW: I didn't have to do anything to relieve the fuel pressure, other than opening the cap and disconnecting the battery overnight.
On the reassemble step #18 my pump will not re connect as if it will not line up right. I’m trying to slowly do this without messing up anything any tips?
Just to be clear- when performing this, are Folks going with the "precautionary" steps in the associated video (and why, if so- to reduce the possibility of post-work CELs?) or the OP's method? Seems that removing the ignition fuse and battery would suffice. Are the video steps to avoid the risk of residual charge perhaps igniting fuel?

If you don't mind my asking- which set of instructions did you go with? The initial doc, or the steps in the video- OR, any combination of those? Last thing I want is more CELs because I went the "easy" way, or worse, get burned (literally) because of some discharge of electricity stored up in a capacitor working with the fuel system.
The directions seem to be missing the point the video made about lining up the cam (by manually turning the crankshaft) to the "flat" spot of the Cam lobe- i think this step was from the Manual. Is it not required?

Based on the instructions- perhaps you're sitting the pump on the high side of the Cam Lobe? Did you need to rotate the CAM to the flat spot? Just a guess.
I am going to be doing this job over the next few days, once I figure out how to get the rusted, frozen bolts out of the battery tray I will . My fuel pumps gaskets Driver Side Passenger Side
are leaking pretty heavily on both the passenger and driver side.

oh wow I think mine may look like that too! Do you see any leaks under the car too? Like does the fuel pump leak oil so much that it appears on the floor? Been trying to diagnose where my leak is coming from lol.
I’m going to clean and wipe it all down and see if the leak reappears in that area.
The leaks havent made it all the way to the floor yet, but they are close. Saved the garage floor from oil stains for now
omg thank you for posting your pics. I just looked at mine. Exact same leak!! Both sides (driver and passenger side)! Guess mine is sooo bad that it’s leaking all the way down to the floor!
anyone know where to buy genuine parts for cheap? The eBay link I saw was $78! Blah!

question. Are you just getting the gasket for the fuel pump part: 23224-38010, or are you getting all the extra stuff too from the link provided from eBay, which has the pump insulator etc etc too?
