Default 08 Lexus LS 460 Bass problems

Hey guys, I'm having a problem with my bass. I can hear the highs and mids properly, through every speaker; however, the bass ONLY plays through the drivers side door. Any suggestions?

Do you have the base ("premium sound") system or the Mark Levinson system?

Well, the two most likely explanations are bad amp or subwoofer. Are you getting any sound at all from the sub?

No bass from the rear deck sub or the door speakers, besides the drivers side door obviously

Hmmmmm............. Sounds like the amp - a known issue in these cars. You might want to take it to your local dealer and tell them "there's something wrong with my stereo". They'll probably confirm its the amp and when the tell you how much it costs to repair, give them your best horrified stare and say you'll have to think about it. You can send the amp to United radio in Syracuse NY and they'll fix it for about $700-$800.

Yeah I've heard about the ML amps going bad, and I've heard about the NY company that repairs these amps. I just needed confirmation that it was the amp (most likely) before I took the car to the dealership. Thanks a lot!

I have the same issue in mine, I didn't realize it could be the amp as I have sound in all other channels.

+1 on the amp. There are a few companies now besides United in NY that fix these amps. I believe there's a shop in SoCal.

I thought I recalled reading that somewhere here, but I wasn't sure. Is the repair priced in a similar fashion as UR or a bit less?

Sounds like your subwoofer and you get very little bass. When my amp failed I could only hear loud chirping noises. Both were covered under warranty.

I seem to recollect that it was cheaper

I think it's a little less ($500) unless the 460 version is more expensive. I like the ML system (when it works) but reliability of amp and speakers is pretty poor. Sorry to hear the problem continues in the 460.

Can we please not do this?? The amps are a known issue-yes. Speakers though?
And to say "when it works"... I really don't think its that bad.

LOL... You stole my thunder, almost verbatim. 99% of owners have had no issues with the amps and NO ONE I can recall has ever had an issue with speakers. My LS is nine years old with 135k miles. I REGULARLY play many music sources at 50-55 with heavy bass and I've never had an amp issue. Course....now I've jinxed myself and I'll get in my car later and it'll crap the bed.
