Hammering them off is the fun part! Except when I did mine they kind of just came off with no fuss. It was kind of uneventful.

Yep, one light wack with a rubber mallet, and it came right off. Very anti-climactic.

Hi,

It looks like my rotors and brake pads might need replacing. My independent mechanic is ballparkingbthe labor at 1.6 hours for the front and 1.6 hours for the rear, giving a total of 3.2 hours. Please let me know if that sounds reasonable. Thanks!

If this does happen, it looks like I should go with Concentric for the rotors and pads rather than OEM, correct? Thanks again.

You want to go with Centric Premium Rotors and Centric Posi-quiet ceramic pads. The labor sounds about right.

Due to all the great reviews I grabbed a set off RockAuto for my A8. My fronts still have 60% but the rears are about 15% on the inner. Interesting on the Audi how the inner rear wears faster then the outer rear pad. Anyway, I got the Centric premium rear rotors, front and rear posi pads, and sensors for the front and back for $212 shipped. Love it. Unfortunately, nobody makes aftermarket front rotors for this car. Really, I'm tempted to just take 600 grit sand paper to the face and not replace the rotor at all as they don't warp. I don't know, maybe just replacing them is better. Kind of back and forth. It does save $400 to not replace the front rotors.

Nothing wrong with that approach. No need to replace them if they aren't warped. I've gone that route many times in many different cars.

My experience has been the opposite. Sometimes I feel like I have to make the pedal travel a little more than normal to come to a complete stop. The brakes on my wife's G37 sedan are very grabby, I always have to adjust to them when I drive it.

Brakes just started making noise so I'm getting ready to replace with the Centric rotors and pads. Are replacing the wear sensors necessary? The light on my dash has not illuminated so I assume they shouldn't be damaged, but what are the odds that I damage one of them when removing? Should I order them anyway just in case?

I'm currently sitting at $349.70 shipped for all 4 rotors and pads front/rear from RockAuto. Just don't want to add another $80 to the order if it's not necessary.

EDIT: Okay, $272.89 shipped for the same order on carid.com

213374U, do you have a Sport or AWD model? I recall my set of Centric Premium rotors and brake pads only cost $277 shipped last March. Is there a 4th of July sale coming up that could save you some money? I didn't have my mechanic replace the brake sensors as they seemed fine.

As long as the light isn't on you should be fine. I bearly had any meat on my sensor but we were able to transfer it over and it's still in use today.

AWD bits are a tad more expensive. Updated my post to say I found them on CarID for about what you paid.

That was my thought as well, thanks for confirming

Just ordered, can't wait to see what they do to braking characteristics.

I notice this too on mine, but only for a few seconds after coming out of a carwash. The rest of the time they are absolutely quiet.
