oil change cost?

Depends whether they use synthetic or not and whether they use TGMO or some other brand. Seems the prices vary widely, but on average, 75-100 bucks. I take it you arent a DIY'er? keep in mind that Toyota can also do your oil change and will use the same products as your Lex dealer.

Well, it depends if you ask for an "oil change" or a "5000 mile service". My local Lexus dealer charged about $130 for the former and $200-$250 for the latter with regular (non-synthetic) oil in my '07.

Doing it yourself shouldn't cost anywhere near that. Even here in Canada I pay 6.50 for the filter and 6 bucks per qt of TGMO synthetic 0W20 at my Toyota dealer. You'll just need the filter tool which you can get on Ebay for 10 bucks or so.

I still change the oil and filter for my wife's 06 ES because I don't have to jack her car up. The few times I took advantage of a Toyota coupon, I was able to get the dealership to change the oil (for a V6 in the 07 Sienna and 06 ES) for $16, provided I brought my own oil and filter.

What is the standard labor time for oil change at Lexus? My mechanic technically charges $20 labor for the oil and filter change but charges $8 per quart of full synthetic instead of the $6 at Costco.
For a friend's CT200h, Lexus was going to charge her $103 but our same mechanic charges her only $40. I'm not sure what the price discrepancy would be for a V8 needing 9 quarts when compared to dealer.

I don't think spitfirefd is off on his estimate, roadfrog. It would cost me about $65 for 9 quarts of Mobil1 full synthetic from Costco ($6.10 per quart) plus a Toyota filter. My mechanic charges a total of $99 to change full synthetic oil and check/top off fluids.

$5.50/ qt of synthetic at Walmart( cheapest price around for Mobile 1)
$6.00 for filter at amazon when you get 5 of them.
$1.00 gasket
So all total= $62.00
Add in a couple of tools which I would buy anyway
I was just curious because I have heard that Lexus IS costly when it comes to dealership maintenance and repairs.

Now that is pretty good, Robb! Any stipulations on engine size or oil volume on the coupon? I sort of recall that there was because $49.99 wouldn't even cover the cost of the oil (although dealers do purchase in bulk).

I was skeptical at first and was going to do it myself bc Lexus was just ridiculous. I got the suggestion from another thread to go to Toyota. I made sure they knew how many quarts to put in it and the guy I dealt with said he gets a lot of Lexus' bc of the cost difference. I told my advisor at Lexus that I got it done at Toyota and he said I was smart lol. Not every Toyota dealer has the special but if you find one that does and print the coupon they will honor it.

The coupon was 34.99 and said up to 5 quarts or something like that but I just told them how many quarts it took and it went up to $49.99. Call and ask...it's worth a shot.
I also got an alignment with Toyota with a coupon for 79.99 when Lexus was asking 149.99.

How much oil does your LS take? My '11 takes a little over 9 qts. Based on your cost figures, oil alone for 10 qts. would be $60. FWIW, Costco periodically has Mobil 1 0W-20 synthetic on sale for about $27 US for a 6 qt. pack. or about $4.50/qt. I think u can get Toyota filters for under $5 on Ebay. Anyway, thanks for all your input on this forum. You're a big help to many including me.

I lucked out last spring and took advantage of Mobil 1's rebate program...ended up paying $2 a quart when all was said and done (Walmart Mobil 1 on sale for 22.95 5 quart jug, plus rebate). I ended up buying 30 quarts total.
Looking forward to jumping on that rebate again this spring.
