I used to have a 1982 Monte Carlo just like that. I need to make my Lexus bounce like that. Can anyone here help me out?

I cannot understand how an actuator managed to get broken like that!

Those things are protected pretty well, and it's not like you're going to put something on the rear deck and squish it. Truly weird.

Glad it was just that, though!

Terminater, how'd you like digging into the back seat to access it, eh? It's intimidating, initially, but after you've done it, no big deal. In my case, after you've done it a few times, it's easy.

My new car, however, has the rear seat upgrade, so I'm back to being somewhat intimidated, not knowing what all is back there and just how heavy the seats are going to be.

The tank in aftermarket air systems is to speed up the raising process. Raising the OEM system can take a minute plus depending on how far it has to travel, aftermarket takes seconds.

Aftermarket air won't make you hop like a low rider, they're using hydraulic suspension to achieve that.

The LS500 system is a closed air system which allows for much faster raising and lowering.

The actuator was broken, but unfortunately that rear strut is shot. My new “oem” eBay struts will arrive on Tuesday. I do not look forward to that job. It wasn’t fun trying to remove the reclining seats and trim pieces, but like you said, the next round will be quicker.

I think I read that these stock air shocks modes just adjust the height back to stock height when heavy passengers and heavy items in trunk that would make the back side sag. I could be wrong but that is what I remember I read in another post.

I had four people, including myself, and some luggage in the trunk of my air '12 L.

Went to lunch on the way to the airport, and I guess I've never had that much weight in one of them, but it was almost comically high when we came back to it. I was the only one to notice it, and it made me smirk, but then, we're almost all car people around here.

The logic is smart. You shut a car off, people open doors, get out, and if the car lowers, people getting back in may cause the doors to hit say, a raised curb/sidewalk But, if it waits to adjust suspension height until it's running, again, it knows how much mass is on the chassis.
