Default Couple quick questions on the LS460

I've being keeping my eye on the LS460 because my initial plan is to step up from the 430 in another 2 or 3 years. I really like the aggressive grill on the 2013+ but the 2010 - 2012 models are starting to grow on me more. As I'm looking around I've come across a couple things that I'm sure someone can clear up for me.

1. I really like the 5 spoke wheels that seem to be only on the 2010 LS460 but not all 2010 had them. Where those a one year only wheel? If so, I'm assuming I could change them out if I bought a 2011 or 2012?

2. I've seen a couple LS460 with a small rear spoiler. I personally like it a lot. Did some LS460 come with a spoiler from the factory or are those aftermarket? If there were factory, what option is it and I'm assuming it could be added on afterwards either way.

I transitioned from a 430 after owning it 9 years - I now have a 2010 LS460L (in the shop for a month after getting rear-ended, but that's a different story). In addition to answering your questions, I posted a while back in the 3rd gen forum about my experience moving from a 430 to a 460 (I had 248k miles on my 430). That may provide some additional insight into my experience with both cars.

1) I completely agree with you on the 5 stars- in my opinion it gives the car a really nice presence and "stance". The 5 star wheels were one of 2 "must have" options when I was hunting for the 460 (the other being Levinson). In fact, I like them so much that I was at one time considering a 2013 and was going to put those wheels on a '13. Nonetheless, they were actually offered on '07-'09 but I *think* it was part of the Touring package for those 3 years. They're much more common on the '10-'12 as I believe there was only 1 other rim choice available (outside of the wheels that come on the Sport). I may not be right about all of the details on this, but I do know for a fact those wheels are available all years from '07-'12. I know some people go with the 18" wheels to get a smoother ride out of the car, but I've been really impressed with ride quality on my 460 with the 19" 5 stars. It rides better and quieter than my 430 (which had the 3rd Gen 5 stars) at all speeds, which I didn't think was possible.
2) I have seen that as well and a couple of members have added them to their cars. To my knowledge, this is an aftermarket part.
3) As a sidenote, the '10-'12 has slightly redesigned tail lights and added the turn signals to the mirrors compared to the '07-'09. I specifically looked for '10-'12 for those reasons as I like the minor refresh, but there were some concerns with control arms and brake actuators in the '07-'09's that impacted a small % of cars. From my research here, it seemed most of those things were ironed out in '10, so I bought a very late production '10 (almost an '11).

In another 2 years, the 500 will be in full swing and you'll be commonly seeing those on the road so the '13+ 460 may appeal to you more than the '10-'12 (which may look dated with its less-aggressive design). I paid just under $23k for my 460L with 65k miles and feel like I got an incredible value- it's a lot of car for that price. In another year or two, you should be able to snag them in the $18k range I would guess.

Thanks! What you found price wise for your 2010 is what I'm hoping for on a 2013+ in a few years. I do like the 2010+ with he 5 star wheels though and it might be more cost effective for me to get a 2012 when that time comes. Like you the 5 spoke wheels will either be a must or I'll have to build into the price the ability to switch them. I'll just have to play that out when the time comes. You had the right idea on the 2013+, I think I would have to swap the wheels for the 5 spoke. I wonder if anyone has done that before.

I posted on here about 9 months ago to see if anyone had put the 5 stars on a '13 and beyond and didn't get any responses. I also tried Googling it and didn't find any images. Surely someone has done it..! If not I'm sure someone with photoshop skills could doctor a couple of pictures up to see what it would look like.

You won't have a problem finding a '10-'12 with those wheels. They're fairly common. If you bought one without them, keep in mind you'd have to change out the tires at the same time of replacing the wheels because the other rims are 18" so use a different tire size. I went through that on my 430 - bought the 5 star wheels on eBay, waited until the car needed new tires and then sold my old rims on Craigslist while I made the swap to the 5 stars with new tires. It's way easier to just buy the car with the wheels on it that you like- and time is certainly on your side so it won't be an issue!

Love the LS from this angle with these wheels.

I love those wheels. If I decide to keep my current LS long-term I'll end up switching to those.

Yep, those wheels would basically be a must have for me!

I do love the 5 stars. Had them on my 430. By my Telios wheels have grown on me.

I too like those 5 star rims, and I think the 460 looks better on 19s, but I want the best ride so I stick to the 18s.

I really liked the Teleios at first but I like the 19's so much I've considered selling mine to get the 19's.

Can someone post a pic or link to the Teleios? Just curious of that they look like.
