Replacing Oil Control Valve (Variable Timing Solenoid)
So today I replaced the right side of the engine's vvt
I want to warn anyone who is about to take his job on before you get into it
1- The OCV are very accessible on the right and left heads once you remove the plastic bits
2- Once you remove the bolt, it till NOT slide out easily.
3- Recommend wrapping the OCV in tape then using a pair of vice grips and start moving slowly
4- Be patient it took 20 minutes and a solid 10 attempts to pull it out but it does come out
5- Now the fun part - putting the new unit back in!
6- I covered the end of the OCV in oil to help it slide in, but it will only slide 1/2"
7- There is no trick to this, no special way about it, you need to force it in
8- My buddy and I took a 1 x 2 stud, ensured we were pushing straight and just pushed on the count of "3"
9- Unit will slide in the whole way with enough force and you are done
At the end of the day, I would rather pay $130 to get the dealer to install this part plus the cost of the replacement.

For those interested in buying the replacement "Oil Control Valve" here are the part numbers and diagrams.
