Big difference in thickness and quality, look and feel and how it wears. Its the only option mine doesn't have that I wish it did have.

The F Sport has the alcantara headliner but not the semi-aniline leather

My car only has the semi aniline on the seating/contact surfaces. Definitely not on the door panels/arm rests, center console sides and I don't think it has it anywhere else that the regular interior has vinyl.

In the older LSs the semi aniline leather also got you the stitched doors. In the 13+ all models have that.

My sons 2001 IS300 has sometype of suede as the seat inserts and then leather on the side parts.

The whole seat I would say has held up very well. Looks about the same age as my 2011 LS sport with only 40K miles on it.

It was probably alcantara which is synthetic and not suede or based on a animal skin. Suede is normally reserved for expensive cars and even then it is rare for seating surfaces because suede can wear and it is very difficult to water proof it or stain proof it and still posses the same qualities surface qualities, it is mainly used for headliners and areas that are not sat in or touched much. Alcantara can be made stain and water proof better then suede but I have seen some pretty bad wear on a Alcantara steering wheel.

Default Are the arm rests and center counsel lid leather?

I have recently looked at several RX 350’s 2013-2016. I am finding that they have tears/nicks in the leather on the arm rests and padded center counsel lids. They are extremely small but it looks like the top layer is less than paper thin to the point I’m wondering if it is actually leather. This is what sparked my previous leather question/post. Has anyone had issues with this? Thank you to all who have responded.

On an RX those parts are not leather, they are vinyl.

Its a night and day difference of quality , both of my 460's are semi analine and they have held up to wear and tear better then any car ive owned

Semi analine is supposed to be a "dyed" leather with a protective topcoat

Luxury cars need leather. But even with cloth material. You can keep them looking new twice as long.
I hate fake leather, it doesn't hold up at all , it peels , cracks and once it starts it deteriorates very quickly , its also doesn't respond well to repairs unlike leather which you can usually refinish multiple times if need be.

I could understand cloth because it is very soft and some might argue more comfortable, but vinyl no way
