Noisy cupholders & center console
Does anyone else have a creaking center console and cupholders that drives them nuts? My '11 is so quiet, but if the passenger puts their knee on the console or there's a cup in the cupholder, it makes lots of creaking noises? Better yet, has anyone gotten this fixed? I noted in the service history for the car that the wood in the center console was replaced early in the car's life due to it cracking...

Yep, mine too. I have put padding in the console along the sides of the console with limited success. Still working on it.

I just slip a napkin in the cup holder when I have anything other than our big travel water glasses which make no noise at all and do not sweat.

It's not the cup holders, the console itself makes noise when you put pressure on the sides of it...

It's the cupholders as well for me. That AND the console itself....so I get twice the noise, but only if anything is in the cupholder. It's not the cup rattling either, but the tines (I think) that make a subtle rattling sound.

Yeah cup holders too, but not just the cup holders.

I noticed when I have something in the holder or if my sit my phone on the closed cup holder, it makes a noise. It's not terrible, so I haven't looked for solutions. If there's a repair similar to the glove box or wind noise, bring it on!

That's been my observation also. The four little spring-loaded fingers inside the cupholders are fine when there's nothing in them but when you put a cup in there, it loosens tension somewhere and they rattle. They all do this and I'm not aware it's fixable. As far as creaks in the console, the dealer's trick is usually to spray silicone lubricant in strategically located points and this usually cures it.

I have the opposite problem -- if my cupholders are empty (and it's relatively warm), then I get a small rattle. I fix it by always having a large cup in the front cupholder. I presume one of those spring loaded arms (which are two-part units) is the culprit.
