sticky door panels and dash

So far I have had the dashboard pad and rear door panels replaced along with pleading with Lexus to replace the glove compartment as it actually showed the most fading/melting. The front panels have arrived and will be having them put in on Monday.
While I grant you that no car is perfect, it is pretty depressing considering the lineage of the LS that the issues with the design made it past development. Still love the car...

Well, this isn't really a design issue - it's a materials specification issue. The plastic used on the dash and door pulls was clearly defective. I doubt Lexus make their own plastic so the supplier is at fault. What is depressing, however, is how unresponsive they are to some owners while looking after others (I think it's all in the dealer). This arbitrary responsiveness is totally unacceptable at any level, let alone on a flagship vehicle from the biggest car manufacturer in the world.

I totally agree with sktn77a. I dealt with Lexus Corporate and a female regional rep just blew me off and said it was denied,
because my car was a 08 Model, even if it was manufactured in 07.
She had no desire to investigate or send me to my local dealer. Disappointed.......

If your vehicle falls within the series of VINs that are part of the warranty enhancement and the car is within 10 years of the date of first use DOFU, then you can get coverage by a dealer, otherwise you can seek goodwill assistance from said dealer.

I got my LS460 about a month ago and found out about the warranty enhancement that ended a few months ago. The customer service rep could care less about my safety or Lexus quality and told me that its not a recall. I tried to express the fact that I did not know about this until after I got the car, so how was I suppose to know about it. My dash shines the sun like a mirror, I wish Lexus would step up and replace it for safety concerns.

Yesterday the front door panels were finally installed completing the interior panel replacement. The front panels had arrived a month ago, but I was out of town. As for those having issues, I would recommend calling Lexus Corporate multiple times until you talk to a sympathetic rep.
While the dash pad, and door panels were relatively straightforward, getting the glove box done for free was no easy task as it is not under the program and the unit cost is I think $1500.
That said, like I alluded to prior, it was the interior part showing the most damage.
Best of luck to those still going through getting their door panels and dash pads.
Edit: Did not realize that the program ended. That seems rather short sighted considering while still older cars, they still fetch a pretty penny on the used market.

Oddly, while they replaced the dash pad, there were no issues with it. Like I said prior, the glove box was what was really janky. Oh well.

And all communications are noted...you can call umpteen times but, they will have all of your concerns on file.

Wow! When I was shopping for an LS460 I've never noticed that the Ls460 either had stitched leather armrest or 1 piece rubber coated armrest. I was wondering how my armrest would melt. Luckily my 2008 has stitched leather. I have soft door closers and rear reclining seats.
I was thinking about upgrading to a 2010-2012 "L" after 2 years. Now the search criteria will be even more difficult since I will now need to find one with stitched door leather armrest along with Mark Levinson sound and Non Air shocks. Would non leather door armrest be a deal breaker for anyone else?
I'll probably have to go with air shock now since that is usually part of the premium package. I'm surprised that nearly every Ls460 I see now between 2010-2012 has the rubber armrest
