Thumbs down I have 2007 ls460 with sticky and cracked door panels and dash.

I have 2007 LS 460 with sticky, cracked door panels and dash! Lexus is telling me because of my Vin number it's not covered under the 10 year modified warranty! The in service date is well within the 10 years !! The case worker denied it due to being second owner and having no other lexus vehicles! Does anybody know what I can try to get them to fix it as they should ?

Apparently the "primary coverage" just expired May 31, 2017 and the "secondary coverage" is from the in service date. That being said, it is possible that the car has been in service for more than 10 years if was a late production 2006. Also, it doesn't apply to all 2007s, just early production ones, so this may be another thing preventing your eligibility (which I'm getting is what they told you). Regardless, I'd call again and be like its only a month and a half out of the primary coverage and try to make a case. The main thing is don't be rude, as they have no obligation to help and there have been instances where they have made exceptions. As for the reasoning, if your car is covered, being a second owner or having no other Lexus cars shouldn't matter, merely a consideration one could use when covering you outside the warranty.

Do you service your car at the dealer? If so, go in talk to your service advisor. It's easier for them to get money out of corporate than an individual calling on the phone they could easily say no to. Hope you get it figured out, the quality of these mid to late 2000s Lexus, when compared to the 90s is disappointing, albeit still better than average.

The in-service date was August 2007 so it's still within that . They say the vin is not included even though it has the sticky cracked Dash and door panels that all of them have that are affected and the dealer confirms it . Thanks For Your Reply!!!

Ah, so it must come down to the the fact it was a later production 2007. I'd say go in and hopefully they'll make an exception. Good luck

Angry Same Experience

Hi,

I had the same experience with an unpleasant female "hack" from Lexus Corporate, I was turned down, no discussion, no interest in listening to my issues.

Disappointing, especially since they KNOW very well there is a manufacturing fault in the compounds used in this panels.

It seems like its pretty random. My vin was not included considering it is a 2010 and the dealership originally said no to the front panels. I reached out to corporate and 2 weeks later they ended up approving it. After the initial approval the dealer changed their entire attitude and offered to to the back 2 panels as well. It all took about a total of a year but got all 4 replaced. I am working on the glove department next since I figured it was worth a shot. Is this the Lexus dealership you spoke to or did you reach out to corporate?

I know someone that contacted corporate about 3 or 4 different times before it was approved. Don't give up and like 02SDGS said be very very nice. If you lived in Tampa I would refer you to the specialist at the dealer here that works specifically on things like that. Hope it all works out for you!

I like your description! Sounds like the same lady that handled my 2007 LS problems on more than one occasion - worthless, and a disgrace to the Lexus brand. I think we should start naming names on this forum ("name and shame"). I'm sure there's be an immediate change in attitude if some kind of accountability or feedback system were in place for customer service. At present it's totally arbitrary.

2007 and they won't cover? Not good. I had to go back twice to get mine approved.. First SA didn't see it melting. It took it in on a HOT day while the handles were liquid.. All 4 panels were approved.
I wish the dash would've been approved, too. It is not sticky, but it discoloring/white pasty on the bottom part near the radio/glove compartment.

The door handles REALLY makes the car look dated. My car is a Late 2006 build.. 1st owner.

I'm thinking until more and more people get fed up and start to complain will Lexus do anything. And for the most part, they probably won't. My 08 is sticky and cracking and they don't care. Said it's an old car and they are correct. But if you keep on them and take it to the dealership, you never know what can happen. Good luck.

I am with RC, what I find reprehensible is they know it's a manufacturing fault, the plastic/rubber compound breaks down especially in the heat and under sun light.

I will take it to an upholstery shop and have the door handles covered in matching black leather....

So sad when corporate does not honor the sticky or melting dashboard warranty enhancement program for LS owners but honor the RX.
For the RX, the primary coverage covered vehicles until May 31,2017, regardless of mileage or date of first use of the vehicle.
MY 05 RX (with date of first use: 2/12/2005) had a cracked dashboard. Reported it on 3/14/2017.
Lexus put me on the wait list and finally replaced the cracked dashboard 4 days ago.

How do I determine the 'in-service' date? I am in the same predicament and awaiting Lexus corporate to weigh in on my 07 LS. I was told by the dealer that the 'warranty enhancement' expired on May 31 and now its 50/50. I plan on appealing if they don't approve.

The day the car was purchased by the original owner. It should be on every service record you have.

I rarely come to this forum. But came here to share what I did for my exact same issue. It was a affordable and extremely reliable fix =) Potentially troll worthy here by our Lexus fans here. But hey.. this was last resort. .stand by!
