Default 2010 LS460 AWD 99k Purchase advice -

How many miles are too many to purchase a 2010 LS460 AWD for $20,600. This one is for sale by owner 99k and the owner says the 90k service was completed. Are there any gotcha's on this car to worry about? Control arms act.... I have owned a 98 ls, 2000 ls, and a 2004 ls. I have been pretty pleased with all of them before but am getting a little older and 20k+ is hard to part with for a car with 99,000 miles. Any opinions greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

That price seems on the higher side for this car. Please consult the many threads here offering buying advice and comparing prices, problem issues etc. Very briefly: price this car on Edmunds, KBB, NADA; check for prior accidents etc. on Carfax and Autocheck; compare to prices of similar vehicles on cars.com, cargurus etc. All of this research will give you a much better feel for what is a good price for the car you are considering.

Sign up for the Lexus Drivers Site and look at the maintenance history by plugging in the VIN. Unlike your 400 and 430, the 460 doesn't have a timing belt so it would be the water pump at 90k plus some other things (with water pump probably carrying the brunt of the labor cost). Check and see if control arms were done and consider getting a pre purchase inspection to check those out. 2010's (especially early production) are susceptible to the control arm issue and those are not inexpensive to replace. There was another thread on here recently that showed the VIN cutoff for the known control arm issue but I can't remember who posted it. I have a July manufacture date on my 2010 and my VIN was "in the clear" for the control arms (meaning Lexus was using the new control arm design on my car). What's the production date of this car? It's stamped on the sticker inside the driver door panel and you can ask the seller to take a picture of that.

I wouldn't be concerned at all with 100k miles if the car has been regularly maintained. My 96 LS and 2004 LS both went 250k miles with no trouble before I sold them. You should be able to negotiate down to around $19k.

Prior post is the auto check... Owner says the car drives perfect. Just a little afraid that the prior damage could impact my resale later no matter what the condition of the car is... I have been looking for a car now for a few months and getting frustrated they are either over priced or something is wrong with the car... I might go and look at it in the morning but this auto check has me a little concerned.. Here is the manufacture date not sure how this coincides with the control arms 05/06/2010Independent SourceVEHICLE MANUFACTURED AND SHIPPED TO DEALER --- Thanks for listening!!

Pass. Find a car with no accident damage. And for 100k miles, the price is too high for a private party sale.
