Default Vaistech iViC 5i

When and why did Vaistech stop making this unit? Was really happy with their products before, I'm looking for something to "mirror" my iPhone in our new to us 2008 LS. Everything I read about the Grom Vline makes it sound to buggy. Info, ideas, suggestions?

Thank you!

The IVIC was buggy too. I sold mine, as it didn't work as advertised. The GROMM as you say, is equally quirky. When someone actually produces a reliable and reasonably seamless system, I'll be in line to buy it. I'm not holding my breath.....

I agree roadfrog. I was really excited about the GROMM but read the threads on that. Not a finished product and using buyers as beta testers.

Sounds like Microsoft and just about every other tech company these days!

BTW, have you looked into NAVTOOL? I was considering that too. Anyone else try NAVTOOL? My phone doesn't have an HDMI out as far as I know- ASUS Zenfone Zoom 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM.

I just got finished a LONG chat room conversation with a Grom tech....which is the #2 reason for a red flag, to me anyway. That conversation could have lasted 10 min instead of typing for 30 min if they had a phone number accessible. He states the issues they are having at this moment are with the new "update". If I bought one, out of the box....he states functionality would be 99%. Just not getting a very good vibe about them. If I spent $500 and went through the trouble of installing this thing, I want it to work and I want a support phone line. Call me crazy

While not elegant, simply using the Aux to the headphone adapter of the iPhone 7 really does get the job good enough. While sure I would love to be able to see all the information on the display, but it gets the jobs done and never fails.

Who has the Ivic installed in their 2012 LS? Looking for one for Android integration. How buggy is it? Does it knock out the functionality of the rear view camera? Can you make phone calls with it or do you need to switch back to factory BT to make phone calls through the car audio? TIA!

I just got my hands on a 6D for my 2012 and plan to install in the next few days. I had a 5D in my 2008 LS600 working wirelessly with Chromecast. Search YouTube for CJITTY ANDROID for all the videos. I'm anticipating it working fine

Have you had a chance to do the install on this yet and is it working? Waiting anxiously for an update... Thanks!

I'm still car hunting and believe it or not still deciding between a 2011 or 2013. One of the main reasons that I'm drawn to the 2011 is for the touchscreen and for the possibility that I can add an aftermarket that is more integrated for my Android phone than phone mirroring. Hoping to be able to control the options through the touchscreen and not from my smartphone. Have you tried installing the IVIC 6D and what's your experience using Google Maps?
