Default First Time post- Acquiring 2008 LS 460

Good morning everyone, I have been a member for a while on the forum but never posted, I joined when I was doing research on Lexus SUV's. I ended up getting a 2011 LX 570 for my wife a few years ago, we love it.

I don't drive much, I travel for work and when not on the road I work from home. My current vehicle is 14 years old (198,460) and still running fine but I know that I should start looking for a new one. We have been so happy with our Lexus that we decided to look for one for me. I have settled on a 2008 LS 460 with 54,600 miles, its a one owner car from Florida with a clear car fax and no reported wrecks. I will be going from North Carolina to Florida on Friday to pick it up.

The biggest item that I have been researching on here is the way to update the stereo and upgrade it so I can stream music via USB or Bluetooth from my phone. I have found a few threads but many are older, I hope to learn what are my best options with current technology.

Are there any major things to inspect on the car before I drive it off the lot? I love to get everyone's input from those who have owned an LS and have info to share. I will share an update once I pick it up. I look forward to becoming a contributor to the forum.

Congrats! I had an LX470 that I still sometimes regret selling. That said, I really think you will be quite pleased with your 2008. Do have the car throughly checked out as Florida cars can be a nightmare between the ever present flooding and the lax rules about titling of rebuilt titles.

Sticky/dirty door panels (the vinyl door pull). Make sure the car has been sitting in the sun for a couple of hours.

Although probably a lot more expensive I would go with 2013 and up due to design flaws in the heads as well as less issue with the control arms.

I appreciate the links to the threads, I have read most of them, most of the information is pretty good and applicable. I am looking forward to picking up the car and driving it back home.

A list of things to look for in early LS460's:

For the BT / USB Vaistech remains my first choice. I wired the USB unit into my car using the '10+ USB/Aux jack and it's pretty much OEM equivalent:

I'm considering their BT unit if I go to a 256gb phone this fall; you can wire them in series and have both at the same time.

Good luck!
