New LS 460 Owner
I just purchased my 5th Lexus, a 2013 LS 460. I've had a '97 ES 300, '98 GS 300, '01 RX 300, and '08 RX 350. This is my first LS. It has 57,000 miles. Looks great and runs perfect so far. I wanted to see what some of the other LS owners have had to say about their LS. Good, bad, ugly, etc.
All responses are appreciated.
One item I noticed. I have 2 HID headlights on each headlight assembly. I assumed the outside lights were the headlights, and the inside lights were the high beams, however the outside bulb is the low and high beam, and I can't get the inside lights to come on. Has anyone else had this issue?
All responses are appreciated.

Welcome to CL. Congrats on the new car and I wish you good luck with it.
You might want to peruse the LS460 LS460L LS600hL FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and DIY Thread at the top of this forum. A lot of good info there, and down the road it you have to repair something it is an excellent resource.

To answer your headlight question, I am afraid the inner bulb on your car is very likely for show only. Seems silly that Lexus would do that, but unless you have Advanced Pre-Collision System with stereo cameras, that inner projector doesn't light up. In cars with APCS, the inner bulb is an infrared illuminator.
Check the last paragraph of post #8 in the following thread.

Here's another thread asking your same question, but people are confused because Lexus does not provide clear information in the manual or elsewhere about this issue.

My car has the three-headlight LED unit, and the innermost lamp is infrared. I hope Steve (SW15LS) will also chime in because he has the two-headlight unit, and he is very very knowledgeable (and smart) .

Welcome! Check ur moon roof weather strip hopefully its still good, if not that is one downside of these cars. Im here at the dealership hoping they can cover it under warranty cuz i just litterally bought my car last tuesday (cpo). So disappointed in Lexus for this if i have to come out of pocket to get it replaced.

If you have CPO warranty, moonroof replacement will be covered. I had mine replaced at 44000 miles under new car warranty.

Congratulations on your new LS. My guess is you'll have one from here on out
You might feel the transmission "slip" / "flare" / "blip" (whatever you want to call it) between gears 2-3 on occasion when the car is stone cold. As long as it doesn't exceed 400-500 RPM don't worry, I've seen 20+ owners on CL admit experiencing this.
Again, welcome to the forum and good luck with your LS.

Welcome to the forum(s), Kmetz77. We have 2013 as well and I love the car! I whine any time we have to drive something else, such as the family Tundra to move something. The LS is just an incredible car. It isn't perfect, but it is stellar in areas where it counts (ride quality, drivetrain, comfort, quietness, reliability). Please share some photos or color combo of yours. Yours has great mileage for a 2013. We purchased ours in March with 69K and I just crossed the 81k mark and look for every excuse to sit and drive the car more. You are not new to the Lexus brand but you'll see that the LS is in an entirely different league from an ES and RX (we've owned an ES and 2 RXes too). Enjoy your new car and happy motoring.
Please take a moment to read post #4 in the following link. It highlights two quibbles that annoy me about the LS. It is worth being aware of so you avoid some potential damage and tears (the crying kind) on your fresh new LS.

Welcome! It’s a great car.

I think this kind of weird shifting behavior is inherent to these multi-gear autos tuned for fuel economy. I have not driven one that I didn’t feel have some sort of shift flare or indecision when selecting gears in some quick throttle situations. The 4 speed auto in my old Explorer had better shift logic.
