It's official. The Toyota service manager called it. A small mouse nest near the knock sensor. 11 days later we know the issue and it doesn' t look like other damage. They are still awaiting an intake gasket to button it back up. Now, this will be about $1000, and is covered under Comp coverage with $250 deductible. Would you turn in the claim? I may lose claim free discounts due to no claims for over 20 years but it would be nice to get insurance dollars back for a change.

If you have been paying your insurance for 20 years and not had any claims, I would say you were due. I can’t imagine they would hike your rates for one claim after 20 years. Take your money, that is what insurance is for. I’m glad it wasn’t a bigger problem!

Thread resurrection...my 2013 just had this identical situation happen yesterday. The car has been sitting quite a bit lately (for obvious reasons) in a rural setting. I'm going to tear into it to see if the mice have done mine the same way.
