You're right. I'm still digging. How long does it take to find the right one? Two months, six months?

I looked at cars for a few months. I found three LWB cars that I really liked, but two were way overpriced, and one was from a sketchy used-car dealer.

I created searches with email updates in CarGurus.com and Autotrader.com, and used https://www.autotempest.com/ to search as well - this one will check craigslist, etc, and you might find some cars you didn't know about.

I also kept an eye on the inventory at Lexus dealers within 100 miles of me. The dealer where I bought my car sometimes has cars on their site for weeks before they put them on Autotrader, or they just sell them so quickly that they never make it to the online ads. My car was listed (no pics) on a Saturday, and I bought it the following Wednesday. They tend to keep older cars in good shape and sell them on their lot. They've had some nice LS 460s, 430s, and even some older GS cars that looked good.

Dude, the clone of your old one, with only 70K miles, is pretty much it!

Any reason you'd pass? It's becoming more and more unusual to see them with sub-80K miles on 'em. Not that this is a lot, mechanically, but interior wear/aging and all...

His bank won't finance an 07, needs to be an 08 or newer.

Yeah, BOA Says it has to be a 2008 with less than 125k. I just called again yesterday and that's the deal. Still digging.

Of course the dealerships will finance it but, my bank rate can't be beat. I'll find one. I might have to settle for a Mitsubishi Mirage instead. Can't be much difference.

Doh!

I would have sworn that said it was a 2008, but nope, it doesn't.

Yesterday was a very long day. Today and tomorrow will be similar. I'll triple check what I think I see.

I saw one in Carrollton and it just didn't fit the bill. Still digging.

My plan was to go see two cars today but, that's not gonna happen. Parents got stuff that needs to be done and of course, I gotta do it. Boy, I tell you, this car hunt ain't for the weak!!! Thanks guys for all the help and input. It's really helping me out, seriously. Props to this Forum.

Have you looked at Carmax? Here are a number of L's, 2008 or newer.

It could be tomorrow or six months. That's is the excitement (atleast for me) when looking for a car. I "settled" on a 2008 LS460 90k miles swb with comfort plus for $16K cash from a small dealership in May 2017. Had I waited for a LS460L to show up within a 100 miles radius for under $18K I'd still be looking. I LOVE my swb Ls460 which I've completed sorted out and drives like new but I still have the itch for an L. If one comes along at the deal of the century with the right mileage and I can get a great trade or a quick private sale at a break even price I paid I'd get one.

Be Patient and don't settle!

Dude, I understand all too well.

My wife and I have traveled three different times for three very specific vehicles.

First was the 1999 Fleetwood diesel motorcoach, that was a couple of hundred, each direction.

Next was her RX300, went to Lake Tahoe from Portland, OR, but it was exactly what she'd have spec'd.

Third was the 5.9L 1998 Grand Cherokee we have as the tow/third car. Drove to Missouri from Fort Worth for that one...drove it home on the original plugs with 163K miles on 'em. The gap was 0.10". I still can't believe it ran, honestly.
