Looking for advice
hi all, been reading a ton and have learned a lot.
I am about to purchase a 2007 ls460L, executive package with 75,000 miles. It’s at a Lexus dealer where it was bought and serviced since new. Excellent records. The manager even printed out the history from the old owners account. The head service guy took me under the car. The maintenance on the car is impeccable.
Ive read about the problems the 07-09 cars can have. I could look for an extended warranty.
Not sure I need the L but low mile cars in this condition are hard to find. I can deal w the small trunk.
I just wanted to get some opinions. I thank you in advance and look forward to getting to know you all.

That is for sure a good looking car - assuming it is the one in Roswell. 19K does seem a little high for a 2007 however it is a one owner and looks incredibly clean. I think you should be able to get them to kick in a warranty or come down a few grand. Good Luck Mate.

How did you see where I am lol. The one in Roswell was very dirty inside. This one is at ballet Lexus. I’m trading in a car and pretty happy w the deal. I can’t get them down anymore but will be very satisfied. I’d have to buy an extended warranty, $2200 approx. What are your thoughts on doing that. They said the air suspension would not be covered.

Yea - I see what your saying - the one you are looking at for 21k seems pretty high. There are alot of people on this board who have gotten much better deals. For 21K you should be able to get a 2010 and avoid some of the issues you raise. I am unsure how far you are willing to travel but if you are willing to travel and take a chance you will be rewarded. I traveled from raleigh to NJ to look at a car only to fly back home that same day. Then I found a 2010 460L one owner w/ 45K miles in PA for 23K. Ended up driving that one home and have been extremely happy.

I got them down to about 19k out the door. And with my trade I am happy with the numbers. The maintenance record is amazing and they have bent over backwards showing me everything.
i would travel but single dad and not the easiest to do. The trade is probably hurting me a bit but I don’t want to sell it privately
i know I’m probably paying a bit more bc it’s at a Lexus dealer

Sounds like a great car!
If you decide on an extended warranty, I was able to get a Platinum level one from CNA, which is very reputable, for 5 1/2 years/48,000 miles for $2,500.
It is exclusionary, and does cover air suspension.
I actually found the best deal through a Chevy dealer in GA.
Can provide contact info if needed.
Best of luck with the new car!

The only reason I'd buy the warranty is for the air suspension, but you said they won't cover it with the $2200 warranty. In that case, I'd skip the warranty and put some money in a Vanguard account every month. If you need it for repairs, it's there, and if not, you'll be making money rather than spending it for a warranty you may never use.

Here is the contact info for the dealer that sells the CNA contract and a copy. GA has better contracts than most other states, some additional protections and clauses.
I ended up with 5 1/2 years/48k miles.

My 2008's air suspension has been flawless, since I found the disconnected wired under the parcel shelf.
I can't imagine it misbehaving in the next 7K miles, which is where you'd be at the end of most any extended warranty.
If it does, hit car-part.com and find a used strut to buy yourself additional years for much, much less than new.
I'm also one of those folks who think 98% of the time, extended warranties do the owner no good. Deductibles, semantics, sometimes even outright lies from the warranty company can make them more trouble to use than they're worth, which is the whole point. Get you to pay up-front, then the company does its utmost to not lay out any funds.
Then again, I'm also a gearhead, and will dive into almost anything (the deep innards of automatic transmissions are another universe, but valve bodies are no big deal).
