LS460 TPMS how many tires it can support?
I have been driving with the all season tires on the LS460 in Toronto for almost a month and I think I need a set of winter tires asap.
I plan to change to 18" rims and 235/50 winter tires. The current is 19, but I heard that 18 is more comfortable and better in winter.
I remember some one said that the TMPS only support 5 tires, or something like that. Does it apply to 2013 LS? If so, does it means that when I change the tires I have to reprogram the TPMS each time?
In that case, what if I don't install the TMPS? Except the potential safety issue, will the car make any annoying notifications?
If the car's TPMS could support 2 sets of tires, when I do a tire rotation, front to rear, will the pressure display the right pressure with the right tire position or does it need reprogram?
Thank you.

You have to reset them when you swap wheels with different monitors. If you don't install monitors, each time you start the car you will get lights and notifications, at least in a 2007. Not sure what happens at rotation.

I believe what is meant, is additional TPMS units in the second set of tires. Then swap the codes In the cars computer to match whichever set you have mounted. Last time I replaced my tires I first picked up five new Denso sensors from RockAuto at $33 each. My goal was to have fresh sensors with new batteries, so I also changed the one in the spare. The sensors all have a unique code, so after the swap the system will be saying all your tires are flat, since it is still reading the old sensors, now out of the tires. Basically the same situation once you switch tire sets, except your spare is probably not getting swapped, right? Perhaps your tire shop can handle the code swap for a reasonable price, but if not I recommend getting Carista on your iPhone, and a compatible OBD2 adapter. That’s what I used, and it only took a few minutes to enter the new codes. Just keep track of the old codes so you can swap them back. If you are not swapping the sensor in the spare, it may take some trial and error to figure out which of the old codes is that, just cycle through the old codes for the 5th tire until you hit upon it.

I purchased 4 of these for my 2007 LS460 and they work perfectly. Took 5 minutes to get them "learned" at any tire shop and it is usually free.

Even better if the tire shop will do it. I had my tires mounted by Costco and they claimed they could/would do it, but after I drove off I realized the car was still connected to the old sensors they had given me back. In past threads others were being charged to switch codes after they swapped winter/summer tires. Carista is definitely something to consider in that case, for also quick and easy to do yourself with that.
