Hi, I have a 2010 LS 460 L AWD. The silver trim surrounding the clock has peeled significantly. The dealer told me that piece does not come for sale individually, instead, it comes with the navigation screen. Can this trim piece be removed and repainted?

Hello,
I had several of my lights out behind the physical navigation buttons. Replaced system at Lexus for $2,200. The whole thing comes as a unit new from Japan. That meant that the trim is all new now as well.
I have seen used nav units on eBay for 1800. For me the decision came down to the battery being replaced twice in one year. I believe there was a short causing the lights to flicker, and I didn't want to take a chance on the battery dying in an inconvenient location. So for 2200, I bit the bullet, and the new unit makes the car look almost new inside...because after all that is what you see while you drive...![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
FYI...if you price the same unit new that is a genuine OEM part...it is about 12K. Lexus traded mine in, and I'm sure is sending it back to Japan for refurbishment...but no one else can touch it outside of Lexus for under 12K. I tried a shop that works on all the high end stuff...and I tried an excellent Toyota dealership. Since Lexus has the units, it charges 6 times more to the outside competion because it can. I only write all off this because I researched it for 6 months and thought it might save you some time.

The trim can be removed and replaced separately. I did it for my 2008. 2010-2012 has a different part number of course
Details here, It does take a fair amount of time to remove the trim. It DOES NOT JUST POP OFF.
