I've run through 2 sets of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3, they have 45k miles warranty.
in my case, the first set lasted 20k miles with 70% local driving. the 2nd set lasted 27k miles with 80% highway driving. The tires are stable with great traction, and gives you lots of confidence in high speed highway driving.
now I'm using the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus, not as sticky as the Michelin PS A/S3 on highway high speed driving. pretty comfortable tires.
next i might try Continental or Yokohama.

Hey texas008- couple questions:
1. If you got fewer miles on the Michelins than their warranty said you would, was anything pro-rated back to you?
2. Michelin vs. Pirelli- so which ones do you like better? I am debating putting a more aggressive tire on my '08- seems like the Michelins are more aggressive than the Pirellis. Would like a little more grip than what I'm getting now.
So- what do you think? Thanks!

I live in Chicago and have the Continental ExtremeContact DWS. Great tires for year long performance - performs great in snow, quiet on the highways, etc.

I've had all three of the tires mentioned here (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3, Continental ExtremeContact DWS, and now the Pirelli P7 All Season Plus.
I found the Michelins to be very nice on my 2008 LS600hL, with a smooth, quiet ride and decent tread life. I had put around 26k on my set of Michelins when I traded my car in, and the tread was going strong -- probably good for another 20k miles at least.
I had the Conti's on my 2006 Lexus SC430, and found them to be okay, but had real problems with "flat-spotting" overnight. Pretty much every time I drove my SC, the first mile or two was pretty rough, with the "flat-spot" wobble until the tires warmed up. It was worse in the winter, but present year round.
I just had a set of the Pirelli P7s put on my new-to-me LS460L, and so far I find them to be very smooth and quiet. I went with them based on so many recommendations on this forum, and haven't been disappointed (although I've only had them for a few days). They are rated at 70k miles, so theoretically they should last a bit longer than the Michelins. If they do, and remain smooth and quiet, they will definitely be my favorite!

1: The tires were bought at Discount Tires so i was able to claim mileage warranty and use the credit (like ~50% of the tire price) towards a new set of tires.
2: I like the michelin PS A/S 3+ a little better, more grip and feels more confident. I went with Pirelli mainly due to cost. Next time will probably go back to UHP tires that matches the capabilities of this car.

I've had three sets of Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus on two LS460s, and like them so much that I put them on my new LS460L with only 350 miles on the OEM tires. Even with no mileage on the OEM Bridgestones the improvement in ride and noise was considerable.
Perfect tires for the LS IMHO. Michelin only has Ultra High Performance (UHP) tires available in the LS's sizes, and the ancient Primacy MXM4 and the even more ancient Pilot HX MXM4. They have a good new touring tire too, the Premier A/S but they don't come in the LS' size.
You can't go wrong with the Pirellis.

A lot of good recommendations here! Michelin, Continental, and Pirelli all build quality tires and a lot of people run these brands with great success. I personally run the Signature V (SCT Version) on my RX400 and have been pleased with the performance they deliver for my needs.
Ultimately the right model for you will depend on your driving priorities/conditions and the performance attributes you need from the tires.

Thank you all for the feedback!
I had the Pirelli Cinturato P7's on the 2013 ES350 I just traded, they were the favorite some time ago on that sub-forum. No issues, other than a little less grip compared to the factory tires, but amazing tread life.
