Default Power for radar detector in overhead console?

Does anyone have any experience with the best source of switched 12v power inside the overhead console? I have a Valentine One that I'd like to install but don't want to have to run the wire down the A-piller trim if I can avoid it. Seems like there's enough going on in the overhead console (I have the Lexus Link up there) The should be switched power somewhere. I just don't want to short anything out trying to find it.

Hi friends, I did a quick search on this forum and came up with this thread. It is exactly what you are looking for, I think! Good luck.

Thank you! That is EXACTLY what I needed, and was too lazy to search. I'll remember next time. That is a great thread because it gives a nice clear explanation how to do it. Pictures and wiring color info too.

FWIW, there is a great mount available now which clamps on to the rear view's adjustment shaft.

Amazon Amazon

It's not inexpensive (though neither is a V1), but it's very well-constructed and puts my countermeasures in a great location, with a clear shot both forward and rearward.

Also, if you want a longer power cable which is hard wired, telephone cord cables are the proper gauge and net cable sheaths are also on Amazon. I'm still quite pleased with extending an RJ11 cable about 6", because that stuff is difficult to solder, especially with a large soldering gun.
