Default Sway bar links and rubber

Another question...has anyone been able to repair a knocking sound on the front end by replacing sway bar links and the rubber bushings?

Well it's funny you ask because I tried...and nope, didn't fix it. Damn it sounded like sway bar bushings too! Classic worn sway bar bushings sound - and they looked wiped out too - but after replacing the bushings and links the sound was still there. Turns out it was the control arms (uppers). It seems like every front end noise associated with his car is because of the control arms.

At least that was my experience.

Take the link off on the side that is knocking. Drive around and see if the sound is gone if it is then it is your link. Get the heavy duty greaseable ones like Moog or Mevotech. If your upper control arms are good then try tightening them down a little more.

Good to know thanks. How hard is it to change the uppers? Anything major for me to seek professional help or is it pretty easy?

Not too bad at all. But try what Jlaws suggested, it may be worth a shot.
