Default LS 460 L 2007 Maps upgrade

I want to upgrade my Navigation system maps. I have a LS 460 L 2007. Any guidance?

I see they sell them on Amazon for almost every model except mine. I am a DIY guy and rather not have the dealership do it.

You're stuck with the dealer. Sorry. It's a USB upgrade and the USB stick is erased after the install. I know, cuz they gave me the USB stick after the upgrade as a souvenir to use as a storage device. It even says "Lexus" on it. Dealer charged me 330 dollars.

Wow. They really have a secure hold on your nether regions on that one! Looks like a once-every-five-years update!

My last update was a 2012 one. So 6 years in my case. It was over due, cuz my area is growing so fast that it was missing some very key roads, bridges and exits

I would get a aftermarket unit before handing them that much money for a update. Total ripoff

That is not an option for the LS. There is nothing available that is dash mounted in place of the OE system. And there's no way i'm cluttering up my dashboard or windshield with a Garmin, cords, suction cup mounts etc.

Hi Chris, I agree with you! I am not a fan of those gooseneck and suction cup holders that block some of the dash controls or the view out the windshield. Outside of updates, the best option is a smartphone mirroring system from Beatsonic or a stand-alone unit like the GROM that will allow using Google Maps and Waze. For the 2013+ cars, the Beatsonic kit is an excellent option. I am very happy with my set up installed over a year ago. My Lexus Nav maps are the original ones installed in the new car shipped to NY, so they are completely out of date for the Midwest. My Beatsonic kit and installation cost about the same as two dealer map updates.

I would love a GROM or similar if they WORKED properly. Seems there are still too many bugs in these systems and they have't been truly seamless. On paper they look great.

Mines been working pretty well. I mean once in a long while it reboots. But nothing too serious. I am extremely happy with it. Leaps and bound over the stock deck. There's a newer model just released with better hardware. If I didn't already have this one I would definitely get that one in a heart beat.

I was one of the testers for them when they were selling the unit for $299 to early buyers. It was great in theory but never worked right. I think my dealer was charging $225 for the map upgrade which I might do sometime this year since I've decided to keep the car a few years. Definitely agree about the dash mounted Garmin units. I already have a radar detector in the corner on the driver's side and a dash cam by the inside rear view mirror, wouldn't want more clutter up there.

And the reviews I've read seem to indicate that the bugs are still there. Maybe the V2 is better, but I won't be the guinea pig.
