My old 2005 LS430 used to turn on the external mirror lights (Puddle Lights Below the External mirrors) as I approached the vehicle with the Key FOB in my pocket, my 2013 LS460 doesn't appear to do this.
There are lights on the bottom of each mirror.
Anyone know if they should turn on as I approach the car or only when the Key FOB unlock button is pressed or only at knight?
Salesmen says only when you press the unlock button on the Key FOB do they turn on, I can't seem to make them work at all.
The owners manual says it could be they have not been activated in the dealer software.
I have an appointment today and would like to know more about this option before I go there.
Thanks in advance
Bob

I dont think mine turns on any lights by just walking up to it. I'd actually really like that, if it did that. It does turn on the puddle lights and whatnot when i hit the unlock button or touch the handle.
Let us know what the dealer says, if its configurable, I'm all over that.

Mine turns on as i approach the vehicle. I'm pretty sure its configurable. I do have the carista app but i do not recall changing that setting. I could be wrong though.

Thanks all
Thought I found a "Lighting Section" in the manual but couldn't locate it from any of the selections in the car.
The LS460 manual did mention something about the dealer turning the feature on and off?
Bottom line now I'm really confused Shad034 has to hit the remote button and qtrung909 turns on he approaches the car.
I'll ask around while I'm there if I can but they don't allow anyone into the garage area so no access to the mechanics.
Stand by .......

I believe that the puddle lights will illuminate when you approach the car. But keep in mind that the detection range is very short - the wireless electronic key needs to be within 0.7 meters (2.3 feet) of the door to activate the puddle lights.

I'm going to have to go look at this. Typically when I'm walking up to my car, I'm grabbing the handle once I'm in range. I may have just never noticed they come on before I grab the handle.

"sprtent" was correct, the car must be "LOCKED" to make the puddle lights to turn on when approaching the vehicle with the remote key FOB in your pocket.
I feel better now.
Thanks to all that responded.
Took some pictures while I was there
