Hi Guys,
I need some help with my cup holderI have a 2014 LS Fsport.
When I bought my LS there was a heat stain/ring on the lid to the cup holder. The owner before me held a cup of soup on top of the cup holder to keep it from spilling. When he got home the finish on the cup holder had a permanent circle on it. It isn’t that terrible but it annoyed me enough to find a black trim piece to replace the decorative trim on the cup holder door.
To change this piece I had to take apart the center console, and remove the cupholder. I then had to dismantle the actual holder to free the lid to be able to release the clips holding the decorative part that needed changing. To do this I had to pop out the lid off from the soft close mechanism, which meant the spring part slid off. I didn’t think it was a big deal at first. I reassembled the whole thing. Everything worked like a charm in my hand. However after all the pieces were put back in place I noticed the door gets stuck in the closed position and I have to free it from the trim that surrounds the shifter to get it to soft open. I took the whole thing apart again and reassembled it hoping I did something wrong at first but I had the same outcome again. Does anyone have any experience with the cup holders who can help me? Nothing is broken. I feel I have something not lined up right up right with the spring and it is pushing something forward somehow. The lid looks barely higher than the rest of the trim when it is closed. I searched for videos or diagrams of the cup holder but there isn’t anything I could find online.
