armrest edge. Appears to be imitation leather. Vinyl?
I thought it would be that. Mine is cracked/broken too and my previous owner told a similar story that it was broken in his garage.
It is Vinyl. Body oils from elbow breaks the material down. These are the new 'environment friendly materials' bandwagon Lexus got on. Materials are just degrading lot sooner than in landfills. Nobody thought of this? It is so frustrating.
Anyways, there are other threads on this subject. Search for cracked armrest or melting dashboard.
Best option: Leather wrap the armrests as upholstery shops. Even Vinyl wrapped would be better. And then, wear long sleeve tops when putting your elbow on it or just don't use it. Cost about $175-$225 per door armrest. You will probably have to take it apart and reinstall.
There are other options but they don't match with the luxury status f the car. (Not the original ones do either)
I am personally thinking of DIY partially wrapping it with leather/vinyl. I have a concept in mind but won't start anything until summer. Only place where you put elbows should need wrapping.
Yeah Lexus cut some cost with Vinyl door panels. The door handle panel does come in leather if you have the comfort plus package which I am lucky to have or Ls460L fully loaded with air suspension for 2007-2009 models. I looked at upgrading my 2008 to a 2010-2012 but found nearly all have vinyl door panels no matter what the trim level as if Lexus needed to get rid of their stock, I think only one member here has a 2010 with leather. I believe the rare sport package has leather armrest also.
Lexus came to their senses in 2013+ and switched to all leather which will be my next car.

Do you know if 2013+ armrest size is same as 2007-2012? It looks very similar.
If it is then buying 2013+ door panels might also work. I looked up 2007-2012 door panels but as you mentioned they are all vinyl. Finding one like yours in black would for front doors will be like finding a unicorn.
Wow it looks very close ! I bet they would line right up. You could go to a Lexus dealership and take a closer look. For what they would probably cost on Ebay etc. you could probably get an upholstery shop to wrap them in real leather.
