2009 lexus ls460l purchase
Ok you probably hate to see these but I'm considering a 2009 LS460L AWD with 80k miles....any major areas of concern? For me, this will likely be a 10 year 250k mile investment.

Airshocks and AWD, the most expensive model to own maintenance wise. Might as well get a Benz S550.
Look for RWD and no airshocks. If you can get one in an L then it's pretty rare.

As much as i like the trick parts on the “l”s my need was a 200k capable rock solid build quality sedan without the big maintenance hit.
no idea ever of buying another Lexus after our sc purchase.
Local original owner decided to sell his 08 base model with 54k miles. Garaged. All receipts. Black/black. Not my first choice but realty shiny.
now that I see all the options available it’s really an eye opener.
Spring ride works prretty well. Non ml stereo is good. The ML in the sc is a door pounder if you turn up the pioneer head.
so I have to parallel park it myself. And adjust my cruise control distance. And can not adjust the ride height, no cool box.
no power rear seats. No rear stereo. No 19” wheels. No AWD.
We we bought a new 1998 Honda Accord and still own it. 205k miles.
the LS 460 makes the Honda feel cheap and flimsy.
i needed a “driver” too many years in the car biz long ago.
My used car manager paid full wholesale book for two early 90’s ls400’s with 100k miles on each of them in 2005.
Ira offered me one and bought the other one personally. $6k.
Now that I see what he was so proud of in a LS I am glad I am a late convert.
my base model with nav and auto wipers and heated steering wheel and heat and cool fronts and heated rear and chromed mags and a clear front protector is a treat to drive.
I see later models with more equipement and most with more miles around since we bought ours but the known local low mile garaged car caused us to buy this on the spot.
$19k. Tires, brakes and rotors. Alignment. $2k.
If it goes 200k miles more of which I have no doubt it will then it was a 10 cents a mile car.
Incredible car for 10 cents a mile.
originsl owner was a dollar per mile owner.
replacing the drivers seat foam and fixing the door panels armrests.
adding a vgrom to the car to use on screen stuff.
my luck was good in this case as the total reliability was what I luckily ended up with now that I see what it could have been.
Versus the options. My fate.
more amp MIGHT help the stereo a bit.
Killer brakes. Lots of motor. 22 mpg combo. Push it harder on the freeway. 80’s and 90. Too quiet.
Built to run 125 mph forever.
Amazing car.

There is a "merged" thread on here where my post asking the same thing you are was moved in to. That may help you out some. I am (or was) considering a '07 LS460L (rear wheel drive), but after I received the VIN and went to Lexus website where it was serviced, I discovered it was in the shop numerous times for multiple issues. Either it was a lemon or these cars are not as bulletproof as Consumer Reports™ had me believe. When I think of Lexus LS, I think of a very reliable car, but that made my eyes pop out. Even at 2000 miles it was in the shop for issues. Maybe it was the very first 460 to roll off of the assembly line? lol. At any rate, I have not been able to get much out of anyone on it in the way of advice, but I am hoping that is not the norm for the LS460. With that said, I am now going to look at a '97 LS400. I have owned both a '90 and '91 LS over the years, both were great cars, but obviously didn't have all of the tech of a '07+ LS460. Good luck!
