I've hated the giant and heavy key fob ever since I got my LS 460 a couple months ago. I mean, it's just crazy big. Funny thing is the internals are actually quite small... Which got me thinking maybe I could make or buy something smaller and lighter to put it in. As luck would have it, I found a metal box with a sliding lid that is exactly the perfect size.
It's ferrous metal, and I was hoping the fob would only work when I slid the lid back a little, but enough signal gets through that it still works. It's definitely attenuated it enough that you have to be really close to the door for it to unlock.
Anyway, if anybody is looking for a way to make the key fob significantly smaller, here is the metal box I used:
Nice ideal. I have not had that problem with the key fob. Generally when I am allowed to drive the LS I have my staff with me and she carries it in her purse.
Lexus sells a Credit Card sized keyless fob that you would
have the Dealer program to your car in addition to your
regular fobs. No buttons ie., can not open doors/trunk at
a distance nor remote start with the three (3) press cadence
but is very thin and light.
Note: Fob shown in picture is an ES style fob
not the even larger LS sized fob
Would love a smaller one for my keychain with a lock button only on it. I need to take my keys but, I also would like to use the remote start time to time. Still the key/fob is kind of big for my pocket.
A credit card style would be nice but, they are very expensive and no one has said 100% they are compatible with a 2007/2008. All I have heard was "they should" and that is not enough to spend $250+ on a key.
I have used this exact same key card for both my previous 2010 LS460L and now my current 2010 LS600hL - worked perfectly both times (my Lexus dealer charged $67 to program the cards).
What is the FCC ID on your current fob?
I find the Key Card to be very much worth it, as I now don't need to lug the big Lexus fob around. I have multiple cars, and it's a pain having to go track down the right fob. I can now just jump in the LS and go, knowing the card is in my wallet.

Rick,
Will this CC Fob work on my 2011? How would I verify it?
Father's day is coming and this would be a great gift.
Gary, I'm pretty sure it will, but if you can give me the FCC ID number from the back of your key fob I can confirm it matches mine (which would mean the Key Card should work on your car). The Key Card is actually returnable through Amazon, even if you've tried unsuccessfully to program it. It will come from Bell Lexus in AZ.
One of the things that drove me back into an LS from my Genesis G90 was the lack of a Key Card capability -- that's how much I enjoy never having to lug around my car key!

Rick,
I have read through the CC Fob thread and lots of good info there. Thanks for documenting it.
My 2011 LS fob says:
FCC ID HYQ14AAB
IC 1551A-14AAB
Yes I want to purchase a CC Fob, not sure which one or how to specify the correct one. Bell Lexus Ebay site says their key is not compatible with my car, although there was no where to provide the FCC ID. I also did not see how to contact them via Ebay.
So, I am ok with calling them and talking with someone if that is the process you used.
I also have Fakestream and would attempt to program it myself with some coaching.
Would also like to get the blade as well.
If you will guide me a bit, I will write up a concise post for the CC Fob thread.
