Brakes clunking after driving in stop and go traffic.
2015 LS 460L. Just had the brake fluid changed at 30,000 miles. The service advisor at Lexus told me the brakes were 30% worn.
Got stuck in about 20 miles of bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic. After about 1/2 an hour of this, the brakes started clunking. When I was traveling at 20 MPH, and gently stepped on the brake, it sounded like the pads slammed into the rotors with a clunk. The car did not act as if the brakes were being slammed on however (meaning that the car did not nosedive, or stop short). There was just a noticable clunk.
After the car sat for three hours in the city, the problem went away on the drive home. There was no stop and go on the way home.
I called Lexus, and the mechanic told me that if anything was wrong with the brakes, I'd see either idiot lights, or notices on the display. He indicated that the clunk was normal.
I'm not so sure, as I've never heard this before, even in stop and go driving.
Does anyone have any ideas? The car is out of warranty, so I'd just assume not go in blind to run up repair bills with no ability to fix the problem.
Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it if it just happened that once under unusual driving circumstances.
