One just like this on the windshield
I have had my car for a couple weeks now and am starting to poke around in it.
Discovered that I have one of these on the windshield behind the rear view mirror.
I presume it is for use on tollways if you have an account set up. We don't have any tollways in Wisconsin.

Any harm if I remove it or is it there for another reason? I would like to place a small dash cam in that location.

U r correct. It is a toll pay. U can ditch it.

The unit is glued to the windshield.
I will go gently, twist and pull I guess, then clean up the glue residue.

Try a heat gun from the outside.

I was able to get it off using a plastic bondo spreader. Used a sawing motion between the unit and windshield. It came off pretty easily but took a few minutes.
