Default Brembo and Centric Questions

I washed the car last weekend and spent more time than expected on the brake dust. I understand this is common along with the grabby nature of the Brembo brakes. I thought I would address the brake dust, grabby nature by getting new rotors and pads. In addition, the existing rotors were resurfaced at 10,000 miles so the next issue will require replacements anyway. There were several recommendations for rotors and pads in the brake threads,

I ordered the Centric rotors and Posi-quiet pads from Rock Auto based upon info off the forum posts. They arrived yesterday. I was surprised at weight of the the front rotors. I am even more impressed with the engineering in the suspension to provide the ride quality with all that unsprung weight hanging out there.

This is probably a stupid question but I thought I would ask it regardless.
I have attached a photo of the front brake pads. They are almost square and I expected them to be a bit longer. Can someone confirm from the photo that these are the right size.
Admittedly, I have not taken the wheels off yet to look at the existing ones but these seem a little shorter than I expected.

Those aren't the right front pads. See here for what they look like: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...ml#post9092828

Thanks,
I kinda thought that. I will get with Rock Auto on returning them tomorrow.
i'll swap them out for Ceramic PowerStop pads unless there is a better pad that does not create as much brake dust.

I found a spec sheet on the Brembo Pads and they show measurements of 189mm x 86.9mm.
The ones I received are only 130mm long. Also, the box they came in had been opened and re-taped. Someone swapped them out or they fell out and were replaced with the wrong pads.

Off to Rock Auto

About when are people needing to swap out pads and rotors? I got the car with 32K. I am on 41K. I got the fsport squeal so I want to eliminate that too. Wanted to know if now is a good time to do both or if pads alone will solve it.

I can't help you with that as I have only had the car for about 3 weeks.
There is a link in the second post to a thread on the Brembo's. Seems everyone's mileage varies a bit. I am getting the parts now so I can install them when necessary. I am already fed up with the brake dust and trying to keep the wheels from staining. This is a DIY for me and I am looking for an excuse to get my hands dirty.

Power Stop pads are awesome and nearly dust-free. They actually dust less than Akebonos.

Those look like the pads for the normal stock brakes. I just installed PowerStop rotors and pads on all 4 corners plus I've used them on other cars in the past and they're quiet and produce very little dust.

Posi quiet pads are amazing i used them on both my old 430(2 years) and currently on my 460. They feel great and reassuring. My next upgrade is centric StopTech pads which are even better than posi quiet.

When you do a full swap of rotors and pads how many brake sensors does the car need? 1, 2, or 4?

Just 2, 1 in the front and 1 in the rear on the passenger side. I just picked them up both on Amazon for less than $20.

I have had my Posi-Quiet pads and Centric Premium rotors for over nearly two years now, and they have performed flawlessly. Linear, quiet, and no grabiness.

I have a 2011 LS460L and I have 2 brake sensors in the rear. I assume I have 2 in the front too. I am not sure what year this changed though. I have seen several people mentioning only 1 each in front and rear passenger side. My LS 430 is like that, only 2 sensors.

Well the sensors need replacing only if you wear out the pads to an extent , when they start rubbing of the metal part of the pad to the rotor. So If you keep an eye on your pad condition and replace them before they melt the sensors (creating a electric loop then giving a check engine light). You can keep the sensors for a long time .

Rock Auto sent me the correct Brembo Front pads Posi-Quiet semi Metalic.
They included two wire harnesses in the box. I suspect these are for the sensors and will replace the existing wires.

It will be a couple weeks before I change out the rotors and pads. When I do I will post photos.
