So I bought my nearly mint condition LS460L from my boss about a year ago. He had it serviced since he bought the car new at the same Lexus dealer. I found all the records online and have a huge folder of all the maintenance. The one thing I didn't see was the transmission fluid change(120K miles). So I got it done as soon as I bought it at the Toyota dealer(120K miles). But lately around 4th or 5th gear it seems to miss and pop into neutral so the engine revs real high. I'm gotten used to it now and just let off the gas or drive the car in manual **** mode. I know I found another post on this here but didn't seem to find a resolution. I see there are some transmission rebuild kits online for this type of transmission also I can't recall the part but someone had said it could be a single component that causes this. I will dig around to see if I can find the name but it was months ago when I came across the forum that mentioned it.
