cost to own 2007 lexus LS 460 vs Lexus 2009 ES 350

I'd say the ES 350 is one of the most reliable, and cheapest to maintain vehicles I've seen. It's essentially a V6 Toyota. A lot of the bugs have been worked out, parts are readily available and reasonable.
The LS460 is a reliable vehicle too, but parts are expensive...especially something like a brake actuator (which is prone to failure),
However driving experience and enjoyment?? Oh my lord! I mean it's no comparison. The 460 is so much more powerful, quiet and smooth. I test drone a new ES350 a few years ago and at one point I turned to the sales guy and said, this thing is a dog. I feel like I'm driving a four cylinder Corolla. He says, yeah maybe you'd be better off with the GS350 or stay with your 460...or I could show you a new one.
I was shocked at the lack of power, it really did feel like the engine was tuned down or something.

Outside of repairs the LS has more needs from a maintenance perspective. It holds twice as much oil, it has two air filters, it has air conditioned seats with filters, lots more power options, etc. When you factor in repairs, much more complex suspension with costlier parts, more complex engine and drivetrain.
The ES will be cheaper to maintain no question. The LS is however a way better car. If you're really worried about repair costs and maintenance then the ES is the ticket. If you want the best car and are less concerned about maintenance cost the LS wins hands down. I'd recommend not even driving the LS if you're going to get the ES lol
For an ES, I would only consider a 10-12 ES, they made a lot of improvements in 2010 that did a ton for the car IMHO.
