My 2010 LS occasionally fails to complete the start cycle. Turns over strong, seems to start the combustion but fails. Could I have water in my fuel? Sometimes have to push the start button 3-4 times for it to start

I had the same issue several times over a few months with my 2010 LS460L with 76K.
It usually happened during hot weather, the car was up to temperature and ran hard, and set for less than 1 hour upon restart.
No malfunction indicators lights on the dash.
Tech Stream showed a DTC P1604 Startability Malfunction for each failed start attempt.
The problem went away after running several bottles of techron and using premium top tier fuel.
I searched on code P1604 and found a doc that showed 28 possible trouble areas that could set this code.

One of our astute participants, while trying to help someone with a problem similar to what you are experiencing, noticed in a video that was submitted that an improper technique was being used to start the car. The video showed that the operator was pushing the START button and holding it, much like one would do starting a car with a mechanical key - twist the key and hold it until the car started and then let go. The proper technique for starting the LS460 is: press and hold the brake pedal and then press and release the START button. The cars are designed to kill the engine if the START button is held while the engine is running.

Several things might account for what you are experiencing but we don't see many problems like yours.
