Hi so again asking for some tips.
Being Canadian and having learnt how to drive in Canada and such where we were taught to back into things and parallel park etc I am not horrible at parking. However I do want to see this parking assistance thing in action this morning I tried it and. I cant seem to move the "thing" to where I want it to park.. if this has been discussed and a tutorial given I would appreciate some links.

Here's how it works.
1. You drive past a parking spot at 12mph or less. The four rear and six front sonar sensors detect the cars, and the gap between them.
2. Putting the car into reverse activates the wide-angle backup camera. There's a little button on the bottom of the screen that looks like a car parking. Hit it. If the spot is more than 6.5 feet longer than the car itself, the car enters Advanced Parking Guidance System mode. This is where the magic happens.
3. Crawl backwards, keeping your foot on the brake. If you touch the gas, or the wheel, the mode shuts itself off. Make sure to stay under 2.5mph, or it'll shut off, too. The wheel, as you can see from the video above, spins itself like its being ghost-driven. The sonar system is constantly measuring distance, beeping with more urgency as you get closer to obstacles.
4. When you're in the spot, the computer will announce that parking is complete.

Did you read the owners manual? I'm 100% sure they fully explain how to change the desired parking spot.
Does yours work like this? I'm not sure if the 2007 has the same version of APGS as the 2013+ models...

on the 360 degree camera. Really just manually doing by myself is quicker. 360 degree camera is very handy when you get used to it.

I have it on my 2007... It was a feature that I had to have. Personally, most of the time it's not even worth doing. Some lots that have dark lines, it works with out a hitch, other times, it's WAY off. Most of the time, its way off. The time needed to adjust it, you could park it yourself quicker. Anway about it, once you get better at backing in, you'll find it much quicker to do it yourself than using it.
The 2007+ LS460 has the side mirrors that tilt down when your in reverse (my 430 had this feature too) and backup camera (if you have the navi), with the combo of these 2, you can back into a spot and be equal on each side of the lines in about a 1/2 the time of using so called auto park. I do this every day, and 95% of the time on the first shot..
Also, if your backing up on a slight hill... it will stop and wont park. My office has a few spots like that, on a slight hill, it cancels every time I try it...
Good luck with it but, it really is hit or miss...
