Leather Seat Dye

Hi all. So I got the car back today. The shop replaced a couple of pieces, dyed some others; it looks 100% better so now to see how long the job lasts. Cost was $350Cdn ($255US). They also gave me a bottle of a lanolin/beeswax protectant (sampler, enough for 4-5 applications) that is supposedly not available for sale to general public...we'll see. No label. Now to see what can be done about that seatbelt. Thoughts, anyone?

The previous owner had not enabled the "easy exit" option (at least it was not enabled when I got the car) so I strongly suspect that, in addition to wearing blue jeans (I don't), they just slid themselves in and out. At 6'4 I DO use the easy exit. That plus looking after the interior should prolong it's life. The other seats were and are impeccable in their condition so I also rather think they did not make a habit of carrying passengers...probably a business lease of some kind.

What is "easy exit"? Is that where the steering wheel moves up when you shut off the car and open the door?

Yes, the steering wheel moves up and away and the driver seat moves back as far as it can go. You need the option or package that includes driver seat memory plus power steering tilt/extend (rather than the manual lock lever).

Just remember about your seatbelt tongue. A lot of the time the belt doesn't fully retract. The seat comes back & catches the tongue & pushes it against the B-plr trim & damages it. The few cars I looked at all had damaged B-plr trim. And I suspect it's from the easy exit option.
