Price check / Thoughts on a 2010 LS

Do you really want the AWD and air suspension? Both could be problematic. The AWD could have vibration problems plus has quite a bit less HP. The air suspension is a time bomb waiting to go off. I could see if you need AWD but air suspension is worth skipping. The price is a couple grand too high but if its perfect and you love the colors and the car its not a bad deal.

That is what I found in my 2010 LS 460L with 28,987 on the clock on 14 Jul of 2014. A RWD with no air otherwise loaded. I was disappointed that it did not have air at the time but I am ever so thankful that The Lord had my back on that one. We have put 45,788 miles on it in 49 months and other and the spark plug change at 60K and regular scheduled maintenance have not spent a dime on the LS. Well other than tires as it had a new set of cheap Michelien Eagle tires on it when we bought it. I think we got 20K out of them maybe a little less before we put the P7 on it.

pulled the trigger
Thanks for all your thoughts..... I pulled the trigger this morning. It was a little hairy, the price jumped, apparently there were higher offers pouring in, but it was promised to me, and I wasn't going to let this one get by me. My wife insists on AWD. We live in an area where its needed. My previous LS430 would frequently get stuck. I saw the silver LS at the CT dealer, that was RWD, same dealer. Cheers.

Congrats - you did well! It's not surprising that folks could be fighting to get such a low mileage example of the breed.

Congrats, enjoy it!

You will not regret this. Take a look at a CNA warranty if you are concerned about repair costs. Getting a vehicle with these low miles is like getting new car at 1/3rd of the sticker price.

Cars this expensive you never know if a rich drug dealer drove the **** out of it then restored the exterior and rolled back the miles before he sold it, or an old guy barely drove it, when he did drive it he barely knew how, and it sat in his garage for years. Haha joking kind of but its possible I guess.
Its a great car (maybe the best sedan ever?) but its still just a car, from 8 years ago. For me it would be really hard to justify 25k for it. Was it a fair price? Absolutely, because the resale on these cars is insanely high.
Then again, the 500s just came out this year. We might see a big plummet in our 460's value over the next year or two. I thought the plummet would happen this year with the release of the 500, which is why I waited until this year to buy one, but it held its value and I bought it last month anyway. Maybe the ****in raw V8 will be more of a novelty and hold value even better.
Besides actual value, unfortunately the AWD version is very problematic for this generation. Its just too much power for 8 gears to distribute to all 4 wheels. This is why its down tuned from 380 to 340 hp, but it still wasn't good enough. Any other car in this class with AWD at the time only ever used a 5 speed automatic.
Don't listen to what anyone says about the air suspension, if you got it enjoy it, replacements aren't expensive and its more reliable than a lot of other air rides.

I don't think that is true, for the most part. I know that the AWD models have slightly less horsepower, due to a more restrictive exhaust that was required due to space limitations in the undercarriage. I don't think the AWD models were "detuned" in order to not overwhelm the 8-speed transmission. This statement implies that the AWD models put too much strain on the transmission, yet there have been very few transmission complaints on the LS460s (either RWD or AWD models).
I do hope that you're right that the novelty of the LS460 V8 engine helps keep the resale values high!

Did you say it was a "Sport"? It does not look like a sport, it does not have Sport wheels which is a shame or anything else the Sport has. Is the grill blacked out? Does it have the matte wood interior/brown leather accents? It has a wood steering wheel so I am pretty certain it is not a sport, it is a base model which I don't think I have ever heard of a base LS having air suspension.

Here are actual numbers for RWD vs AWD. A decent chunk of power lost. Plus extra weight of awd system ,
HP: 380 hp @ 6,400 rpm (AWD: 357 hp @ 6,400 rpm
Torque: 367 lb.-ft. @ 4,100 rpm (AWD: 344 lb.-ft. @ 4,100 rpm

Congrats on the new car....
I got a call the other day from the local Lexus dealer here in Rochester, they know I'm looking. They had the twin to your car, 2010 Black on Black with just over 23,000 miles, Air Suspension and AWD asking 23,995. It sold in 2 days.... I was looking at the checkbook pretty hard, it was almost perfect for me, but, I'm holding out for perfect... My 01 430 is paid for and still going strong, will turn 250,000 miles this week, so no rush...
Enjoy the ride, she looks sexy.......
