Thanks for the info. I got busy with kids and didn't get around to checking the manual. I guess I will do a little more research about proceeding with converting to synthetic oil. I have heard that adding an additive like Lucas could help with this transition and be an overall benefit.

I stand corrected

Gjohnson, our car manuals call for either 0-20 synthetic OR 5-20 conventional

and so there is absolutely nothing wrong with your dealer putting in conventional and there is also NO reason you have to switch to synthetic

I just did another oil change yesterday with Mobil 1 0W-20 and oem filter. Mobil 1 has a promotion so 10 qts were like $25 after rebate. It's a no-brainer to buy conventional oil when synthetic cost the same.

The car had about 5k miles since last oil change and I had to top off 3/4 of a qt during that time.

BTW, this oil filter wrench works great!

Yes sir! That’s where I bought the oil too. Mobil will honor the rebate even Walmart isn’t on their vendor list. I’ve been doing these rebates for a few years now. No issues with Walmart and Mobil at all.

Can’t beat 10 quarts for less than $25!

Yup its a no brainer, and requires no thought
Use Synthetic oil, change oil every 6500-7500 miles if doing a mix of highway and city
if primarily city and longer oil changes every 5k is great.

no thought necessary
