Car is with the dealer now. Although they haven't diagnosed the problem yet, they are already trying to suggest that it's likely just a coincidence, and are likely going to try to stick the bill on me. Even spoke to the service manager, same thing. Oh but they've generously waived their diagnostic fee of $99. LOL.... We'll see what they say, but I still may end up at discount tire. Still just feels wrong that I take my car home from service at a Lexus dealership, and on my way home this warning pop ups, and they want to claim "coincidence." As if one or more of the TPMS sensors just happened to fail right after the car was being serviced at the dealership for two days. It's possible, yes, but not probable.

Final update: They called and said the passenger rear TPMS sensor is out and that is what is tripping the warning. They want $250(!) to replace the sensor, or since the other ones are likely to go soon, a bargain of only $670(!!) to replace all 5. No offer to reduce anything. Despite laughing in my head and still being angry about the whole situation, I kept it civil and am declining it all, of course. Discount Tire here I come! Sheesh.

Thanks everyone for your help.

They know how to massage numbers. After all, they would have given you over 50% discount.

Vaguely related, I recently had a flat tire due to a random stray bolt in an office parking lot. Made all my TPMS lights go haywire, fixed the flat and the lights went away without an issue. Also recently went to max cold psi of 51 on all 4 Michelin's and mpgs went up from 22 to 28.

Sorry about that as I have only seen the Low Tire Pressure warning light displayed.

In case Discount Tire or another tire service would make the change if you brought your own Denso sensor replacements, eBay has a set of 4 Denso sensors shown for $135 or about $34 each. Otherwise at least you know about how much the sensors cost for the tire service company, like the Lexus dealer charging $670 for 5 at $34 each = $170 leaving $500 to dismount/mount the 5 tires with the sensor swap and retyping the TPMS ID# into TechStream for the 5 new sensors.

No worries...thanks! The local discount tire here will do TPMS install for $65/each (includes the new sensor and installation). Probably just going to have them do it in the morning (and on future tires).
