Default 2010 Lexus LS460 Sport - Air Suspension - Car tilts

Folks,

We recently purchased this car from a place called Ultimo in Wheatland, IL. The car has 58,8XX miles on it.

The car is equipped with the air suspension and it sits 4mm lower on the rear passenger side versus the rear driver side.

The car is current at our Lexus dealer that we always serviced our cars through, LX470, LX570.

So we know them well and they have always done right by us.

However, they cannot figure out why the 4mm difference exists. Height setting high, height setting regular, sport, comfort..all result in the same 4mm difference from one side to the other so the car looks like it tilts.

We have an extended warranty to that covers all components of the air suspension so the dealer knows it's a green light to fix whatever they determine to be wrong with it.

When they hook up their diagnostic, everything related to the suspension comes back normal and all the shocks/airbags read at the same level.

Not that it means much, but the Carfax says no accidents. However, in the Lexus owner portal this VIN shows that a while back the selling and servicing dealer, JM Lexus , the customer requested to have the rear bumper replaced at like 600 miles.. Perhaps rear ended? But through the entire history there is no mention or complaint about the suspension tilt. Service history attached in PDF.

In any event, other than the repercussions of a potential accident that wasn't enough to report to insurance, what might be causing the suspension to sit 4mm lower on one side versus the other?

Thanks in advance for your insights

Even though there are no air suspension codes or issues. The dealer can adjust each corner using techstream...will they? I cant answer that. I know from personal experience and other members who have techstream that you can adjust each corner.

Furthermore, less than 1/5th of an inch is nothing. That's, IMO, a completely normal variance when working with air suspension, four independent height sensors, and it being both consumer-grade and being in a real world environment.

I'm happy to get the corners within a quarter inch of each other, reliably...and I've been tweaking the suspension on my car for months, at this point.

Besides using a Techstream, you can physically change the height of each corner via the height sensors. 4mm might be a challenge to change and not make worse, however, as the rear is a sliding stud in a slot, unlike the fronts, which have threaded adjusters.

Right now, in fact, the right side of my '08 L is a solid 1/2 higher than the driver's side, however, my LR height sensor is toast, I'm 99% certain. I'll know more after testing tonight.

Might have to wait until Monday, though, as it just started pouring rain. I'm not rolling around under a car which is dripping funky road water.

Do you mean 5cm and not 5mm? I can not imagine a difference of 5mm is even noticeable? If in fact is is 5mm I would not worry about it, like the previous thread said, it is 1/5 of an inch.

My bad, 4cm. When looking from the back the tilt is quite apparent.

The Lexus regional office has set us up with their preferred dealer for air suspension issues. Car goes in tomorrow.

More to come.

Thanks for for the feedback.
