Did a couple cool mods, improved trunk lighting and Lexus logo puddle liughts
Did a couple cool simple mods.
One thing that always frustrated me was how dim the trunk lights are. Every other bulb on the car is a nice white LED, and the trunk light are these old dim yellow 194 bulbs.
For the main light in the trunk ceiling I used a 24 SMD LED panel:
They come with a bunch of adapters. They're VERY bright, I did have to tweak the connectors in the T10/194 adapter to get a steady connection to the lamp housing.
For the light on the trunk lid itself, that light doesn't really provide any illumination, so I just replaced it with a 194 LED bulb to make the lights consistent:
End result, HUGE improvement:
For the projectors in the doors I used these:
I always thought these were kind of silly, but they're actually really cool. Super easy to do, just pop out the housing and replace with the new housing. They're very sharp, subtle, I like them. End result:

My trunk is actually powered by one of those LED strips and it lights up like daylight. I love it, did it for the lady's IS as well.
It's funny how my trunk has little to no space , it's filled with roadside assistance, first aid, AED, bug-out bag, work kits, etc etc.- and a small sub. (haha)
All my grocery bags and shopping bags end up in the back seat.

Nice work buddy.
When I did the trunk light the cover would not fit over the 24 led light like you have. Instead I bought this one.
It has 6 led's but it allows it to close. I also replaced the map light ones. I put in the 24 led ones but felt it was too harsh at night.
I did keep the 24 one in the back since the kids usually need lots of light to find whatever it is they lost.
I have the puddle lights on my front doors. Kids want it on the back. I am still debating if that is too much logos. I bought some off ebay and they sucked. I then got these off amazon and they look really good. I have gotten a lot of compliments on them from friends.
Ugh. I now see Amazon doesn't have them right now. Here is a link to the Audi ones.
Maybe you can find them elsewhere. Just beware of the ones with the big circle around the whole logo. Those suck. Buy the kind that I got and that the OP got. There is a big difference.

My 17 already has overhead LEDs, I think they made that change in 15...

grrrrr I can't find a seller who ships here (the lights)..... I found one but he/she was an idiot and I think they sent one with a toyota logo I have not gone to poland yet so I cannot be sure... how do these lights work? Can I just get the part that projects the logo from some place? or is it a sealed set?

I did the puddle lights like that some time ago too. Very nice. I haven't changed the trunk lights.
But Steve, I thought you were going to try the coolest mod of all? At least I think I read you were considering it. No pressure fo' real. To each his own.
I thought the Prestigious Society Bypass button was nifty. And I am running an ASC because after cruising with the local ATL guys, and looking over their roofs as we drove down the road, my car did look like it was jacked up. So, on the ASC went and I've been happy with it, the stance is correct now and the ride is still the same.

I usually don't do mods like the door lights but i installed them today. I'll have to wait until it's dark out to see if i like them or if i think they're a bit too much. Im very low key these days and don't like undue attention. That trunk light i like though since i already think the factory one is not bright enough. I'm always in the trunk looking for something.
