Well, DedBirdDog, wanting to see a Flaxen interior in person, I stopped to see an LS 460 AWD at a Lexus dealer here in Columbus today. It might have fit your bill - a one owner 2014 in white with 98,000 miles priced at $27,600. Unfortunately, a "sold" tag had just been placed on the dash. It was a nice clean, straight, car, so someone got a decent buy.

I used my LS460 as a commuter car (30,000 a year) and it was an absolute joy. You won't find a car that just loves to cruise the highway more than the LS. And the fuel economy is pretty damn good for a V8.

You will spend more on maintenance compared to an economy car, but it's worth it. So expect to spend twice as much for general maintenance...twice as much oil, twice as many spark plugs, two air cleaners, etc. And yeah when it does break parts are expensive, but overall it's a very reliable car.

The way i look at it...if you're going to spend two hours a day commuting in a car, enjoy it. Life is way too short to drive around in boring budget car. Have a little fun, your time is worth something. People that commute are using their own time, we only get so much of it...don't waste it riding in a Camry. Hell no.

Still new to the LS460, but I can tell you that its predecessor is still an absolute joy to drive. I've got a 2001 LS430 with 201k miles on it with really nothing more than routine maintenance required in the past 8 years. I'm hoping for the same experience with the 460.

Hope you find one!

I have a 2009 awd version they are very reliable I’d look for one that has had the control arms done besides that if you get one take it to the Toyota dealer for half the service cost of oil changes 👍

Curious if you’ve ever change the transmission fluid in your ‘01 LS430?

Haven't in the time that I owned it (8 years / ~ 100k miles), but I do believe it was done prior to that (around 60k?).

I've had a 2010 LS for 2 years now, drive approximately 40k on it per year - there is no substitute for it. I've had previous GS and ES - nothing compares.

Well worth the cost.... Make sure the shop (not the dealership) does a full flush which takes 17 quarts....

As for the OP question, an AWD LS460 seems to be the best choice but invest in a 2013+ …….

Duck05, why do you say it was well worth it?

Let's be clear about Avalons. 2013-2017 Avalons are stiff and uncomfortable. You can read many people complaining about them on reddit or Avalon forums. A pre 2013 Avalon should be quite smooth, as should a 2018 or newer Avalon, but I haven't driven them.

Before I got this 07 LS460 L, I was seriously eyeing a 2011 Avalon Limited, because of the comfort.
