got 08 lex ls460 and looks like prev owner broke the a/c filter door. when changing a/c to recirculate option, filter door picks up half way and drops back down making terrible clicking noise. tried pushing it up and it lifts up and stays up however when change a/c to fresh air the door drops back down and same process happens each time i change back to recirculate. Looks like the door handle is broken, trying to take the piece off and see what can be done...so far took off the knee air bag (but didnt disconnect yet, dont want any errors in the system after), took out the glove box department and now stock with tons of different screws and not sure where to start to correctly remove the filter door to fix it. anyone has ever done that or have an idea on how should i proceed. afraid to break something and dont want to go to dealer to get robbed.(heard this fix cost about $1500 at dealer)
please help out, trying to finish with this fix this weekend. pics would be awesome as well!!

 

Look to the left of the door for the actuator arm. Is it actually broken or just disconnected? If disconnected, like I and many others found out, you can simply reconnect it without taking anything else apart.

 

i was hoping that it was disconnected but it is in place. i think i have to take out the whole piece and might have to change the part or fix it. i will try to attach some pics or a video.
